Another heatwave, but we got one high tunnel full of lettuce! Checkout how much it’s grown since we transplanted it a few weeks ago.

What does our Saturday morning packing look like? It feels like a master class in tetris. Since our truck is down at the moment, we have to get everything that fits in a extended cab silverado with an 8ft bed into our yukon. I don't think I had a vehicle this full since moving into a dorm.

How do we know when it's time to bust out the flamethrower? When the radishes germinate!

Every farm has that one tool that isn't necessary, but is too cool to pass up, this flame weeder is that tool for us.

Better late than never to launch your store front! We have some changes happening this week for our Henry County Farmers Market. Earlier this week one of our vehicles decided its transmission needed to take a break and that limits our ability to haul around all of this stuff. For the time being we will be doing pre-order and pickup only at Henry County farmers market, from 10-12 Saturday morning. So, if you want to snag some of our lettuce and other goodies you can head to the link below and shop from our store page.

While shopping it will direct you to choose a pickup location, that will be New Castle Court House, from 10am-12pm Saturday Morning. The store is loaded with what we would bring to the market and will be open to ordering until 10 PM tonight. We know this is last minute and apologize for the change up, we will be using this process going forward, so we will open the store with updated inventory later next week for the following Saturday.

How did we prep our new expansion and future high tunnel plot? We planted an August buckwheat cover crop, that we mowed down and then put the entire plot under cover, until we build out 12 no-till deep compost beds. This will be for our late fall and winter spinach, but really these beds are for next year!

Here's a sneak peak behind the scenes on how we got 1500 heads of our certified organic lettuce planted the other day! This is how we prepare and plant all our lettuce and going forward for rest of the season we will be planting about 2600 heads per week.

After clearing out the tomatoes, we were able to get the beds refreshed and ready for the next crop! We are slowly but surely getting it together!

The work never stops! Syd and the kiddos got their tractoring in, while moving compost this evening as we put a dent in our fall planting chores.
