Being on the internet will always get you hate. You can do everything right and someone will always have something to say. But, when it comes to raising rabbits for meat you’d think I was committing a war crime.

I preach “fill freezer not rescues”. Yet breeding is still my problem and I’m filling rescues. I promise I am not 😂. Over 200 rabbits in the past year have hit my freezer. Hit my belly.

Yes I share it. It’s not about “clickbait”. This is reality. Not some fairytale delulu land where geese lay golden eggs and there’s no world hunger. Things die. Things give birth. The never ending cycle.

I share everything, the good and the bad. The culling and the birth. The huge milestones and the huge losses.

If you want to eat tofu, be my guest. I’ll never force you not to. That’s all you. But they’re so dead set on forcing me to be vegan, and I was. For years I was a vegan activist and I hated what I do now. Until I had kids. Until Covid hit. Until I realized how fragile the food system is as I did usda produce work. One big hit can wipe out our system and most people would not survive.

This is self sufficiency. Self reliance. Freedom.

Our goal is simple: create a more self-reliant life for our family by raising our own food, learning practical skills, and making use of what others overlook. We believe that useful things don’t have to be new, that knowledge shouldn’t be forgotten, and that determination can accomplish more than money ever will.

Every project, every harvest, and every setback is another step toward independence. We’re building a homestead from the ground up—not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth doing.
