Agrocom is able to bring you Specialty Colombian coffees from different regions of this beautiful country because of changes of how coffee is managed at the farm and after, as it enters the supply chain. The Colombian Coffee Federation is under pressure to allow for the selection of Specialty Coffees that in turn provide additional economic yield to the producers. There is a premium paid for Speci
alty Coffees, but the farmers see very little. For this reason, farmers and producers are organizing into small groups who can pool resources and obtain government help to follow their products further into the food supply chain. This model is finding success in Colombia and the selection of Specialty Coffees is a priority within Colombia’s Peace Efforts supported by the United States through USAID (US Agency for International Development) going back a decade. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in the support of the creation of new opportunities that facilitate the transformation of sectors of the agro economy from elicit and illegal crops to mainstream crops that have a demand in the international market.
