Here to tell you, the new buttermilk fried wings are like THAT!

Sometimes you don’t have to leave town to get away.

I checked into Live Oak Charleston for a downtown staycation and was reminded that Charleston hits differently when you slow down. From a warm welcome and dinner at Terra with Don Luchi Prosecco, to coffee at Tracer, a little work, poolside bites, and exploring the city on foot, every part of the stay felt intentional.

One of my favorite things about Live Oak is its location. You’re steps away from some of Charleston’s best restaurants, shops, and experiences, making it the perfect home base whether you’re visiting or rediscovering your own city.

Have you ever booked a staycation in your hometown? Let me know where I should check in next.

Yeah, Black Food Truck Festival®️ top 5 wing spots went viral and the Summerville churn co-signed Montreux Bar & Grill. We had to pull up. The verdict is still out lol. Until next time… 👀

Nothing like getting back to Charleston and finding a new spot waiting on you.

Odd Duck Markets downtown location is open! Then I caught up on work at Switchyards—making a few updates to The Dropping Pin’s website.

The timing was perfect after a chaotic trip back from New York for the Jay-Z concert. Good food, a neighborhood feel, and exactly the kind of easy reset I needed.

AD | Sometimes the best food memories come from the simplest bites.

I pulled up to McDonald’s to try the Fried Apple Pie®, and that first bite took me right back. Crispy, golden on the outside, warm apple filling on the inside, and made with 100% American-grown apples.

If you’re looking for a sweet stop, this one is worth adding to your order while it’s here for a limited time.

Only valid at participating restaurants.

Charleston does seafood differently.

The Boujee Crab Crack at Holy City Brewing brought together blue crabs, fish fry, good drinks, music, waterfront views, and the kind of community energy you can’t manufacture.

Carolima's Lowcountry Cuisine gave a Lowcountry tradition an elevated touch, but it still felt familiar in the best way. Hands messy, plates full, conversations flowing, and everybody in the room understood the assignment.

This is what I love about Charleston food culture. It’s never just about what’s on the table. It’s about who’s around it.
