Wild N Rooted WV Family of 4 with a few 🐕 🐇🐥🐐... Sharing some wild things and rooted things. Home of a Mini Lamancha and Kinder dairy herd, Rex rabbits, and a flock of chickens.

"Goats are hard." A rather common phrase you hear when you have had Goats for just about any length of time. But what is even harder is not having a support system when things are hard... the goat world can seem vast when you take into account all the social media options out there, but it can also feel SO small especially if any crisis hits or the hard just keeps stacking and stacking.

I am SO thankful to have an amazing mentor and friend from day 1 of this journey into dairy goats. You have heard me mention her before but Angie of Fancy Fields has been such a blessing. I am still learning, a lot this year especially... hoping to help any other goat friends of mine like this down the road too.

Its been a whirlwind year for our little dairy herd... I just dropped 3 off to be bred, 2 will return to me to kid. Praying breeding goes smooth and they can return home quickly, but I know they are in great hands.

I haven't even introduced everyone this year, winter project maybe? Haha 😆

The kids were super helpful on keeping everyone lined up for our 2+ hour drive.

Some 24hr fills on the ladies. Tetra is nearly a year into her lactation and looking great. Jezebel and Lina doing well too.

We are officially down to once a day milking, and I must admit its WOnderful. Milked twice a day for nearly a year, which is wild to think about. I much prefer once a day for 3 years 😆 . Hopefully this respite before spring kidding will renew my zeal a little.

Apparently the vine bugs forgot about us this year 🙌We have mini cantelopes!

On a whim I also threw 3 of these mini seeds in this year too that rockchimneyfarm passed us.
It took forever for them to come up and also for the fruit to ripen. But they are ready!

June loved them, I still dont like cantelope, nor do the boys.... so she gets them all 😆
