In Minnesota, there is a food illness outbreak traced to sprouts. This feels like a good time to remind everyone that microgreens are NOT sprouts.
Here is the difference: When you eat sprouts, you eat the seed. It’s easy for seeds to harbor contaminants: it’s difficult to clean them, and contaminants spread when they are soaked and grown in warm water, as is the case with spouts.
With Microgreens - you eat only the stem and leaf. The seeds stay in the dirt. Because Mom's microgreens are grown indoors, there is little chance for contamination from outside sources, which also makes it safer than most green leafies grown in the ground.
Microgreens are the safe alternative to sprouts and lettuce, plus you get a ton of extra nutrition. Comes in a wide variety of flavors.
Try replacing your lettuce and sprouts on sandwiches with sunflower microgreens for a less risky, more delicious fresh eating experience.
