This summer has been very busy, including a trip to France with the Honors College to learn about French agriculture and how producers are dealing with climate change. It was really cool to be able to talk to such a wide variety of agriculturists about their passion. One thing I loved was that pretty much every farm and industry we visited had on site beehives! Le Marche de Gros Lyon, a wholesaler even gave us all a jar of honey from their hives! I saw some really cool architecture and farms that have gotten me excited about my International Studies & Ag Science classes. I am back in Corvallis now working at the Horticulture Honey Bee Lab on campus and enjoying being back out in the apiary! I’m also back to making lip balm and soaps if you need anything, just message and I will get it out to you!

I had so much fun today making some product and putting together a gift basket for the upcoming Sumner FFA Auction! Gift basket will include Honey, Oatmeal Honey Soap and Sweet Orange Lip Balm made with my beeswax! I'll post the link when the auction goes live. In the meantime, I made some extra product! If you would like some lip balm ($2), bar soap ($3) or a package of three hand soaps ($2), let me know!

It was a hot day to help in the hives yesterday, but so worth it! Check out this cool video I got of a new bee emerging from her cell. You can see the different stages of brood and larvae in the surrounding cells too. Bees are pretty amazing!

Did you know that honey bees love lavender? They have been covering our lavender plants this week and I love sitting and watching them go from blossom to blossom. I noticed the oregano blossoms are also a favorite now that the blackberry blossoms are mostly gone, and the thistle in the field is also starting to bloom. These bees are busy!

Today's sunshine was a beautiful opportunity to get into the bees with my mom! I'm trying Saskatraz bees this year in one of my hives. They are bred to be productive, gentle honeybees with tolerance to mite and brood diseases. I was able to find the queen during my hive inspection today and they look healthy and productive! Not as robust as some of my other bees have been this time of year, but I have my first full frame of honey, and hopefully there will be many more! My other hive this year is a captured swarm and I am feeding them sugar water to help them build up their colony. It was a very small swarm, but they've settled in well, so I'm hopeful with the right interventions, they will build a strong colony.

There are some wonderful opportunities this week to get your hands on some Adeline’s Acre products AND benefit some great causes!
First off is the Sumner FFA Dinner & Auction this Friday (18th) at Sumner High School. There will be a basket with Honey Sugar Scrub, Honey Oatmeal Soaps, Lip Balms and HONEY up for auction to support the SHS students traveling to Nationals this year!
Saturday is the Angel Wings Foundation Hope Day at 10am at Grace Community Church in Auburn. Adeline’s Acre will be part of the marketplace benefiting this great organization! Come by and check out all the creative things for sale in the marketplace, assemble your kindness kit and say hello!

Beautiful day today to work with the bees! The two hives that were captured as swarms are getting stronger and I got to see another bee emerging from its cell! My established hive has two full honey supers that they just need to finish capping. Can not wait to harvest 🍯 🐝 ❤️

Another exciting adventure this last week was capturing two different bee swarms! One was quite small, and one was quite large, but they are both doing well in their new hives! My established hive is doing great, as you can see from the hive inspection photo. It was a tough winter with the late snow, and I'm grateful to be back up to three hives!
