We installed 5 packages and made 3 splits something that means more than it sounds. After losing bees the past few winters, we finally had hives make it through.

Staying consistent with pest management made all the difference. Seeing strong queens and a good early start reminds me why we keep going.

Today we tucked the bees away for winter and added their Hive Hugger! With the Hive Huggers they will help the bees regulate temperature and stay dry through the cold months.

Honeybees don’t “sleep” all winter—they cluster together, shiver their wing muscles for warmth, and slowly eat through their stored honey. Good insulation keeps moisture out and heat in, giving them the best fighting chance.

Now we wait and hope for strong spring colonies! 💪

Sharing about honeybees with students is truly one of my favorite things to do. I love watching kids get curious, ask big questions, and realize just how important these tiny pollinators are to our food system and the world around us.

It’s always an honor to teach the next generation about agriculture and our pollinators!

🦆 Duck eggs get a bad rap, but they shouldn’t! 🥚

People see the size and think they’re “too rich” or “taste different,” but honestly, they’re just better. Duck eggs are creamier, bake up fluffier, and make the best scrambled eggs or breakfast sandwiches you’ll ever have.

We’ve been using them a lot lately, and our favorite thing to make are egg muffins, quick to grab in the morning, and they freeze great too.

They’ve got more protein, more nutrients, and they last longer in the fridge than chicken eggs. Once you try them, you’ll see what all the fuss is about (and you might not go back 😉).

We have them at the farm or you can pick up in Sumner.
