My helpers today, Crane Creek Sally and Red.

Crane Creek Sally, 16 mo old, pure Karakachan, lives with a large group of my sheep full time. Sally is the black and white blob who is calmly lying near a gate while being investigated by a young ewe.

From Lynette Hoover

I love these pups every day but yesterday they really earned their keep. A coyote, in the middle of the day, about 20 ft from our front door snatched one of our free range chickens. The dogs went on pursuit into a cornfield. A few seconds later the chicken came running back home. It took some calling but the dogs came back soon after for their extra treats. Some of the best farm dogs around!!

Crane Creek Koza and Kenzo. 💕

Today I'm thankful that both Koza and Kenzo like being brushed. 🐾

Fortunately, the goats keep the stickers at bay in the pasture so it's not much of an issue with Koza. But because Kenzo isn't full time with the goats yet, he does an excellent job finding all the stickers on the farm 😂

I originally didn't want long haired LGD breeds for that reason. But other characteristics of the Karakachan breed won me over. I realized that it makes a huge difference when your dog enjoys being brushed 😂 previous dogs of mine really didn't like it so it definitely felt more like a chore than bonding.

Kenzo did a great job at his annual vet appointment this week despite looking ridiculous covered in stickers. He is a very social dog and likes to meet new people. He got to meet one of the new vets at Forest City and approves of the new addition! He wasn't sure of the blood draw for his heartworm test but still behaved really well for the tech and vet. We're so fortunate to have such a great vet clinic near us.
