Happy Earth Day…I looked for older photos that were prettier for this post, but then decided to post these photos from today to show the effects of the current drought. Spring grazing is pretty much dried up and nothing can be fertilized or planted without rain. The green line in the second photo is from our irrigation pivot that is barely making much difference and is expensive to run and only over some of our grazing acreage.
Remember that photo of Crimson Clover I posted exactly a year ago? This is the same field today. Barely any clover surviving. Please pray/hope for rain and also that our SC lawmakers will vote to give us emergency aid in this farming crisis. Also, buy from local farmers any way you can with whatever is in season. Anything helps.
