It's prime Sweet Corn season, along with tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, cauliflower and more.

Stop by the Alsum Sweet corn stand in the Bloomin' Farm Market and grab something fresh from the fields to enjoy. Nothing here sat in a truck for a week before it arrived.

Stan's been working behind-the-scenes too. More details coming soon.

Stan's stepping back for a bit.

On the advice of his care team, Stan is taking real time away from daily work at the farm. But the farm isn't skipping a beat.

A long-time friend of the farm, Jay Hanson, is going to be managing and caring for the farm.

The Alsum family's farm stand is and will continue to be open daily. And will be stocked with sweet corn and other fresh-from-the-fields produce through October. Be sure to stop by, say hi, and grab something to enjoy at your table.

And the mums are already secured for fall. More on that soon.

Stan's been using this time and will be using the time in the coming weeks to think and word hard on what's next for these 7.8 acres.

We'll share what's been on his mind. And more details in the coming days.

But for now, come see us. The corn's sweet, the melons are sweeter, the peppers are crunchy and the tomatoes are juicy this week.

This is the kind of watermelon that drips down your arm before you've even finished the first bite. Sweet, cold and worth the sticky hands.

Right now at the Alsum Sweet corn stand at the Farm you'll find watermelon in three colors. The classic deep red you grew up with, plus orange and yellow varieties, each with its own flavor.

Throwing a party later today or this coming week? Grab all three and slice up a tray of assorted watermelon, or cube them together for a watermelon salad that looks as spectacular as it tastes.

Come pick your favorite, or don't pick at all and get one of each.

Look at these gorgeous peppers at the Alsum Sweet corn stand in The Bloomin' Farm Market.

Orange, yellow, red, green ... all sitting together like they were arranged that way on purpose. It feels a lot like the mix of colors in a summertime bouquet or field of wildflowers.

The Alsum family has been growing sweet corn for generations. And now their stand is set up right here in Sun Prairie to bring you the freshest produce picked from the fields. Access to local farms and the people growing your food are one of the things that makes LivinginMadison and its surrounding communities great.

So, grab a few peppers for fajitas, stuff them for dinner, slice them as a snack, or just eat one like an apple in your car on the way home. No judgment.

The Alsum famly has truckloads of sweet corn today, and we want to help them sell it before it goes to waste.

The Dane County Farmers' Market closed early today, and this is usually one of the Alsums' busiest days of the season. That means there's more fresh corn than usual sitting at their stand in our market, ready for you.

Come grab some this weekend. Grill it, boil it, however you like it. Sweet corn tastes best the day it's picked, so don't wait for CornFest to get your fix.
