The only thing they’re missing is a white panel van…

Mimosa is dam to one of our junior herdsires, Gimlet. Grand Champion and Best of Breed at the Western Reserve Dairy Goat Show in Ohio this past weekend.
Mimosa has been one of those does that I just jibe with and can truly appreciate her true dairyness ☺️)

Also pictured is dam to another junior herdsire that I am really pretty excited about 😉 (Rougarou aka R***r- the longest kid I think I have ever seen and already almost 40lbs at 15 weeks old. He also missed the memo that bucks aren’t supposed to have such beautiful faces that they are mistaken for does! 😜)

Great job Lisa! Thanks for talking me into some little boys this year! This fall’s breeding plans are really going to tighten up some lines and characteristics that I’m pretty stoked to see.

👋 still kickin’ over here!
About 2.5 weeks post op, and while physically feeling significantly better- I’ve been dealing with some concerning cognitive issues… a persistent altered cognitive state.
It felt so good to just be very present with my animals this evening. No rain. Mild weather.
Not hurrying to finish chores.
Just being present.
The stress of my altered cognitive state has really had me in an anxious frame of mind most of the time, so my soul needed this quiet time.

I made a post after my surgery, and when I go back and read it, have absolutely no memory of ever having posted it, or responding to comments or messages…😳 That is an uncomfortable realization, but has pretty much been my life the last few weeks…
Brain MRI is coming up and trying to remain positive that I will feel like ME again (and not a drunk version of me… that doesn’t drink 🙄) I’m not sure what this actually means for me for the remainder of the show season, but c'est la vie… 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll just continue to take these moments, appreciating my little herd, soaking in family time, and snuggling my pups 🐾

Photo evidence of the Dove Hollow herd actually trying to bury me under them:

I am recovering from a surgery that required me to carefully decide who would remain in milk and who would be dried off early.
Letty is dry. She freshened in January and could potentially be bred to Dwarf Lunacy V Oberon *B for late fall kids. This option would require a 50% deposit, additional breeding fee and signed contract to be picked up upon confirmation of settling, as I am not comfortable moving a doe later into pregnancy and will not kid outside of my normal kidding season.

Pretty sure my goats are laughing at me… karma for all the crude udder clips 😜

Update: requisitioned ☺️😜

Looking for leads on someone to custom fabricate a metal milk stand for Nigerians (so shorter in length). I need something where udders are closer to arm height for me, for 2-3 goats, with steps or ramp.
I have found several fabricators that build beautiful custom stands, but all are pretty far away and have lengthy waitlists.
Preferably PA and surrounding states. I know wait time may be out of my control, but finding something available soon would be incredible during my recovery time.

Saturday was a very humbling experience.
I arrived at the Sweet Spring Show around 4:45 am and got the girls all settled.
The weather was truly horrendous.
Very cold, windy and heavy rain.
I was anxious about this show due to being in a lot of pain (why I would be having surgery just days later)
Somehow I managed to get my my seniors through the first ring, but having to look down and bend triggered severe nerve pain though my head and neck.
Unfortunately I was at my limit and made the choice to pack up and head home.

The humbling part and lesson learned: I have been pushing myself entirely too hard physically.

I cried 90% of my drive home. That was a rough drive and my nerve pain was flared to some of the worst pain I have ever experienced.

Forward to 2am: I woke up in pain that rendered me unable to even speak coherently. I was stuck in a very distressing muscle spasm loop with nerve impingement into my arms and hands and was unable to feel or move my hands at all upon my abrupt wake up. My blood pressure also tanked and was only 83/50, so every time I attempted to be upright, the world was spinning.
Yesterday was also our oldest son’s NINETEENTH 🤯 birthday!!!! Mom was down, but thankfully he spent some time with me even though I couldn’t bake him a cake 😭

Today I had nerve decompression surgery. 7 hours … it was a very long day. I am home and resting. My hands are very swollen. The bottom half of my head was shaved and I have incisions in the back of my head (currently covered with protective bandaging) I have restrictions and can not lift more than 8lb (which we know is a gallon of milk 😉… and my milk pail ends up weighing about 20)

Thank you to my friends for crucial help on Saturday. Thank you to my amazing husband for stepping up and literally taking care of EVERYTHING right now. I never expect him to be responsible for my farm duties, but he is getting it all done. I can’t imagine what I would do without his help right now.
Thank you to my friends and family who are also helping with our youngest son.

Posts will be limited for bit.
I am not sure what the rest of the season may look like as far as shows.
I am doing my best to keep my girls in milk (thank you Kerry !!! …. Even though milking is not his forte !)
I am determined to get better and stronger to be able to keep going ♥️

Attention milk customers:

Monday (4/27) I will be having surgery. This is a delicate procedure on my head, which means my husband will be assisting with milking until I am able to do so safely. Milk will likely not be available again until at least the second week in May, as I do not want to assign any additional tasks (filtering, flash cooling, filling sale jugs, etc) to my husband. He does not milk- so this is a big enough ask and I am beyond thankful ♥️
