D.A. Smiarowski Farms Welcome to our page. We are one of New England’s largest asparagus growers with over 25 acres in production.

Our family has been farming this land for over 100 years (1923). We are located along the Connecticut River in both Montague and Sunderland,MA.

Well that’s a wrap on the 2026 Asparagus Season. Thank you for all you support this season. My brother Tom making some dust. Great to see friends, family, repeat customers and gained many new ones this year. We a a few left at the stand get them before they are gone.

So I woke up to Sonny and Cher playing on the alarm. Heard the Pennsylvania Polka. It’s that time of year that we compare the asparagus season to the movie Groundhog Day. Frank and I did this photo a couple of years ago. I still think we did it better.

Had some broken pieces today both purple and green.

Here is an asparagus recipe for you.

Pan fried asparagus with kielbasa.

2 lbs. fresh Asparagus (D.A. Smiarowski Farms…of course)

1 kielbasa

Cut the asparagus in 1” pieces.
Cut kielbasa into coins and add to the asparagus.
Simmer in a small amount of water with the cover on.(Don’t let it burn)
Let the asparagus soften but do not let it get mushy.

At that point drain the water from the pan.

Add olive oil or avocado oil, salt and pepper to taste. Again, do not let it burn.

Add 3-4 teaspoons of butter and some Parmesan cheese to finish it off.

Serve and pare with you favorite adult beverage. Enjoy!!!!

I have always likened the asparagus pick to the show The Deadliest Catch. Today the traps are full. This is only off of an acre and a half. 23.5 acres to go. We will have plenty for you. Frank is helping out as usual.
