Remembering Jerry — Two Years Gone, Never Forgotten 🥩🕊️
Today marks two years since we lost Jerry Deaton. For ~50 years, Jerry owned Jerry’s Meats. It was his life and sanctuary. Jerry was a good man; once you knew him, you loved him. (God love his classic style—stuff stacked to the ceiling, but his cut room always immaculate!)
After Jerry’s Meats sat closed for about a year, we spent over 4 years trying to buy it from him. He wouldn’t just sell to anybody. Even tho he sold it 100x over. When the time came, we purchased it- Vanessa & Martin Cervantes—because we put in the time, the work, and because this is what we wanted. He personally mentored us, and I will forever protect what he valued, living up to his standards and quality.
As Whispering Wires Ranch Custom Butchery nears our 1-year anniversary, we want to welcome our new followers! Martin is from the Lower Valley, and I moved here 17 yrs ago (together 22+ yrs, married 20).
Long before this shop, we built our roots running our electrical business (shoutout Perry Tech) and raising full-blooded Wagyu & Black Angus cattle.
Nobody handed us this. We don’t ask for handouts or donations; we rolled up our sleeves, cleaned this legacy shop inside and out, and poured everything back into it. In less than a year, our incredible team has secured our WSDA, retail, wild game, and poultry licenses while working toward USDA expansion. We monitor coolers 24/7 and follow WSDA standards to a T because we care deeply about your food safety.
More than equipment & licensing, we are here for the ranchers, 4-H/FFA kids, and everyone who pours their heart into raising these animals. We live that devotion.
Jerry, we will always honor your legacy. Thank you to our community for trusting us with your table. We’ve come so far, and with grit and a humble heart, we keep climbing!
