Emergency kill. Not a fun day, but someone has to do it.

The call came in, and out by the ditch, the situation was already tense. That was the 115-yard approximate shot right there—taken with the 6.5 Creedmoor—she broke out, traveled a long distance down the road, and ended up stuck on the canal bank. 

We knew the drill: if we got any closer, she would have bolted and run, risking a worse situation or injury. So we stayed back, kept watch, and coordinated until the team got out there. Once everyone was in place, we got the winch set up, hoisted her out of the mud and water, and got it taken care of. 

It’s grueling, messy work under an open sky, but true teamwork makes all the difference when things go sideways. Not a fun day at the office—not by a long shot—but someone has to do it, and the crew handled it right!

Heavenly Father,

On this peaceful Sunday, we pause to lift our hearts in humble gratitude.

We give You thanks for the countless blessings that sustain us, and for the strong, resilient spirit You have placed within each of us.

Lord, we give thanks for the farmers and ranchers—the faithful stewards of the land whose steady hands and early mornings nourish our communities. Bless their crops, watch over their herds, and reward the endless devotion they pour into the earth.

We bring before You our incredible team. Thank You for their unmatched work ethic, their grit, and their unwavering heart. We are built tough, Lord, and we know no different than to give our all each and every day to ensure our families and communities are provided for.

We ask for a special blessing over our dedicated manager, who works endless hours with such patience, heart, and strength to keep this Shop running smoothly. Bless her family, Father, and wrap them in Your grace thank You for their deep understanding, love, and sacrifice that allows her to lead us so well. We pray for all the families of our team, who support the long hours and heavy loads with patience and unwavering love.

Lord, for anyone who is carrying a heavy burden today, anyone going through a dark or rough season we pray for you. May You wrap Your loving arms around them, whisper peace into their hearts, and grant them the comfort and strength they need to keep moving forward.

September 19th was our 19th wedding anniversary! 💕 We headed out on a quick getaway over three hours away to celebrate. I ended up getting really sick while we were away, so we decided to extend our trip by one more day just to rest and recover.

By Monday morning, September 21st, I was feeling much better, and we packed up to head home. As we were driving along the highway, something on the side of the road caught our eye—a tiny baby calf, no more than a few days old, lying all alone in the dry brush.

There wasn’t another cow in sight. We pulled over and waited patiently for over 30 minutes, hoping her mother or the herd would show up, but nobody came. We knew right then that if we left her out there by herself, she wouldn’t survive.

While we were sitting with her, a local sheriff pulled up. I walked over and explained the situation, letting him know how tiny and vulnerable she was. With no cattle nearby and no tag on her, the sheriff let us know we could take her: since she wasn’t tagged and no branding and had no mother in sight, we were free to take her and save her life.

My husband gently scooped her up into his arms, loaded her into the truck, and we made the journey back home together.

Where She Is Today
Since bringing her home, she’s been doing absolutely amazing! We got her started on warm milk right away, and our shop manager has taken her under her wing—the two of them have become absolute best friends.

This little girl is full of life now, bucking around, growing fast, and getting endless love every single day.

Our Plan Moving Forward
If her original owner doesn’t come forward, she will officially be a permanent part of our ranch family!

For now, she’ll keep thriving on her bottle-feeding routine with plenty of love. Once she’s big and strong enough, she’ll join the rest of our herd in the pasture, where she can live a long, happy life and eventually raise babies of her own. ❤️🐮

Lord, today we are thankful. 🤍🙏

Thankful for the blessings we prayed for, the doors You opened, and even the doors You closed.

Thankful for the struggles that made us stronger, the lessons that humbled us, and the moments that reminded us just how faithful You truly are.

Thankful for the roof over our heads, the food on our tables, the people we love, and the opportunities we sometimes take for granted.

Even on the hard days, when life feels overwhelming and the weight of the world seems heavy, there is still so much to be grateful for.

We may not have everything we want, and life may not always go according to our plans, but Lord, You have never stopped providing, protecting, and carrying us through.

Today, we aren't asking for more. We're simply saying thank You.

For what was, for what is, and for everything still to come.

All glory belongs to You. Amen. 🤍
