Story of the Label
Mama’s Merlot was never part of the original plan—but maybe that’s what makes her so special.
After our Papa’s Malbec took home the Idaho Double Gold, we were humbled and proud. But right on the heels of that win came a wave of curiosity—especially from the women in our lives. “Where’s Mama’s?” they asked, smiling. And as we looked around the cellar, it just so happened that right next to the Malbec were barrels of Merlot, quietly resting, just about ready to bottle.
We took it as a sign.
That Merlot became Mama’s Merlot and it turned out to be one of the finest w**es we’ve ever produced. Rich, structured, and elegant, with a core of dark fruit and subtle spice, it carries the grace and strength we’ve always associated with the matriarchs in our family. It also plays a large role in our estate Bordeaux blend.
But Mama’s Merlot is more than a w**e. It’s a tribute.
The label itself is a deeply personal reflection of the women who came before us, our mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers. Each element on the label was carefully selected to represent handcrafted items passed down through generations: embroidered linens, hand-stitched quilts, homemade jam jars, tiny keepsakes tucked away in old cedar chests. These aren’t just trinkets, they’re love made tangible. Hours spent making, mending, preserving, and creating. That kind of devotion leaves a legacy.
Just like the w**e in the bottle, the label tells a story of nurture and grit. Of women who held families together, celebrated our victories, and gave us the tools to chase our dreams. Mama’s Merlot is a glass raised in their honor.
