Sol Root is partnering with to host a workshop on the nixtamalization of corn.

The corn we will use to make the tortillas was grown by Sol Root in 2024; hence the workshop name: From Seed to Tortilla.

A farewell celebration; giving gratitude for Tonantzin and Sol Root Farm.

This will be Sol Root's last event on the farm in Sunol, and we hope that you will join us to say thank you and farewell to this beautiful land we've been blessed to tend to.

To our dear customers, supporters, community-

After much reflection on the last three years of building Sol Root as a farming and herbal medicine business, we have decided to dissolve the farming aspect of Sol Root and take a break from farming. We are prioritizing our health and well-being and being honest with ourselves that at this time we do not have the financial, physical, or mental capacity to continue bootstrapping this business in the ways that we have.

Sol Root will continue with educational offerings and consulting services. You can reach out to us directly at [email protected] to inquire about education and consulting around farming, herbal medicine, landscaping, small business development.

The purpose of Sol Root has always been to grow herbs for medicine makers and community cooks, and to create herbal products from seed to remedy. The reality is that it is incredibly difficult to make a living from farming. We are grateful for all the support and love we’ve received since starting this journey. It has been such an honor to connect with so many folks on the farm, at pop-ups, at workshops, and in other spaces.

While our hearts are heavy with this change, we also know that release and letting go makes space for greater alignment with purpose.

We have products from last season and we will continue to sell them until we sell out. We are currently at the El Sobrante Farmers’ Market 1-2 times a month on Sundays from 10 am - 2 pm. Check our IG stories on if we will be there a certain week.

We are also planning workshops around the crops we grew last season, so get on that email list to know when the workshops open up🌽🏵🌻🌼

Make Your Own Smoke Bundle at the Farmers Market is rescheduled for April 13th!

Date: April 13th
Time: 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: El Sobrante Farmers Market, 5166 Sobrante Ave.

In this workshop, we'll discuss uses of smoke medicine, why to consider not using white sage, connecting with ancestral plants, and the medicines of rosemary & mexican marigold.

Everyone will create their own rosemary and mexican marigold smoke bundles to take home. (There will be enough materials for folks to make several bundles).

Come early or stay later to enjoy the El Sobrante Farmers Market that is open from 10 am - 2 pm every Sunday. Sol Root is a vendor at this market about twice a month, where we sell herbal teas, balms, oils, and more.
