Cross country ran at the Perryton Meet today. Great job to all of our runners who competed. Congrats to Ketzalli Hernandez and Mateo Barragan for earning a medal and to the JH girls team who finished 3rd out of 15 teams.

Football takes 11 men on the field to play the game, but it takes a 12th man to win it. This week, our 12th man is Mrs. Boswell because of her incredible attitude and support. She is our extra strength on the sideline today. 🏈

Great teaching was on display today at Sunray High School.

Our three Ag teachers teamed up to teach a combined class in the commons, and the level of student engagement immediately stood out. Students were discussing the work in front of them, explaining their thinking, and working through the tasks together. Our teachers were moving throughout the room, staying close to students, checking for understanding, giving feedback, and at times sitting down at the tables to work alongside them.

These are all examples of strong instructional practices identified in the Fundamental 5, a framework that describes several things effective teachers consistently do in the classroom, including purposeful student discussion, working in close proximity to students, and recognizing and reinforcing strong academic work.

What stood out most was the combination of teacher teamwork and student engagement. The room was active, focused, and full of meaningful learning.

We are proud of our Ag teachers and proud of our students. This is the kind of learning we love to see happening at Sunray CISD.

Due to next week's Varsity Football game being scheduled for Thursday at Stratford, and in accordance with UIL policy on allowable dates for week 1 sub-varsity games, the JV football game next week at home vs Stratford has been moved to Wednesday, August 26th, at 4:00 PM.

FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE UPDATE:

Due to Trinity Christian not having enough players for a full JV, Friday's scrimmage will start at 6:00 PM. Varsity players will play with the 1's, and JV players will play with the 2's.

The scrimmage will be played at Canyon High School.
