It was an interesting garden year. We moved the garden and the plan was to just not plant this year and prep the area by killing weeds and such.
Then I decided to plant a few things because I found a bunch of leftover old squash seeds from 2021-2023. I figured not many would sprout so I planted them all... we ended up with a mountain of squash, but they took forever to ripen.
Over 150 days since planting the first freeze was forecast. I found just 3 that were ready so I risked the freeze. Then we got a second freeze when it ended up dropping to 30 instead of the forecasted low of 40.
We went out and harvested what were the ripest and undamaged. That was less than 1/4 of them. 😕 Hopefully some of them will be usable, but I guess $0 spent and very little effort expended, so I can't complain.

Big fire near Sunrise, maybe 1/2 mile from us. Helicopter dropping water. Not good. Personally grateful the wind was blowing from the West, but feel horrible for all the houses in the fire line. Hopefully no body got hurt!

I saw this in the corner of the shed and realized it has not been used in roughly 10 years. I just don't need it since we have one on the tractor.
