Millicent's Preservers and Madison's Favorites has plenty of soup mix, dip mix, grilling sauce and jam in stock to ship. All of it was made in January and early February - pre Covid 19. If you would like to order, please call 562-592-0875. We have temporarily closed our store in Sunset Beach but are still shipping. We are wearing gloves while packing the boxes, and discarding our gloves immediately after packing. As we sell out of flavors, we are not going to replenish till after these complex times out of an abundance of caution. Wheteher you purchase our product or not, we recommend that you watch the following video - it is full of important information about how to process your food after purchase. stay safe and stay healthy! we will come out to a better place but in the interim, please take care.

Dinner tonight: we roasted carrots and veggies and had quick pan fried pork chops. All dry rubbed with . SO GOOD! and equally important - so easy! Felt like we were in the kitchen - whole meal including gravy took just 30 minutes including prep.
Steps: Mix in a baggie: 1/4 package of great garlic dip mix, a little kosher salt, a grind or two of pepper and some extra virgin olive oil. Drop in carrots, potatoes and any other veggies on hand. Roast in a 450 degree oven for 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix 1/2 package of great garlic dip mix with 1/4 cup flour. Dredge pork chops. Heat olive oil and a pat of butter in a pan. Brown the pork chops, about 2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan and let sit for 5 minutes.
Make a quick pan sauce of 1/2 cup water, 1/4 cup white wine and the drippings. Add a spoonful of sour cream, stir & reduce. Yummy!

What’s for lunch today? A simple peanut butter and Bruiseberry Jam open faced sandwich. Comfort food -just perfect in complex times. Open face cuz its way too easy to gain weight when you spend the whole day in sight of your kitchen.

Bought some sweet Italian sausage and it turned out to be spicy! our family doesn’t like spicy - just a couple of weeks ago we probably would have pitched the sausage or maybe returned it. But these are interesting times and we don’t want to waste food.
So what to do? Well maybe the blandness of beans could tamp down the spiciness of the sausage. So! Make a cassoulet using Madison’s Favorites Navy Bean Soup mix! Here’s how we made an easy and very good cassoulet:
Soak beans overnight per directions. Put beans, spice mix and 4.5 cups water in a slow cooker on medium heat. Meanwhile, sauté Italian sausage to brown on all sides. Remove from pan. Sauté 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped green pepper. Slice the sausage and add sausage and veggies to the beans. Cook for 5 hours while you take a walk on the beach or read a good book (or work from home).
At dinner time we had a really easy, delicious and nutritious dinner!
