Okie's Butcher Shop

There’s room for all of us on this island. Our words should be used to lift each other up, not tear each other down. When one local business wins, our whole community wins. ❤️

Support small family run businesses.

10/07/2026

One week later. Nearly $30,000 raised. ❤️

What started with a fire turned into a reminder of what a community is supposed to look like.

You don’t have to agree with your neighbor to care for them. You don’t have to know someone to show up for them. And when the tables are turned, we hope someone would do the same for you.

Take care of your neighbor. Show up. Don’t be selfish. That’s LBI.

Thank you to everyone who did.

Positivity prevails ❤️

A few people have asked why Okie’s got its nose in the business of helping BLVD Pizza and Sincerely June. The answer is pretty simple: small business supports small business. We’ve been on this island for 46 seasons. We’ve watched generations come and go, watched businesses open and close, watched neighbors become friends and friends become family. We remember a time when people could disagree, shake hands, and still show up for one another the next morning. Somewhere along the way, we seem to have forgotten that.

The noise, the division and the downright nasty behavior across these platforms has made what we’re doing more important than ever. Everybody seems determined to pick a side, draw a line and fight like a bunch of damn children. We’re old enough to know better. Not everything has to be black or white, and not every difficult situation needs to become a referendum on who deserves help. There are plenty of people who can start fundraisers for other causes, and we fully support them doing so. This one is ours. We are a small family business, and we’re going to keep standing up for other small family businesses. Because when you’ve spent 46 years on Long Beach Island, you learn something: this place is worth protecting, and that starts with protecting each other. If you don’t have anything constructive to add, keep the negativity to yourself. We’ve got better things to do—like taking care of our own.

We don’t tolerate negativity. Period.

48 hours in, and we’re just about at $20,000. ❤️

More than 200 people have already donated to help BLVD Pizza and Sincerely June, and that’s a lot of people who took a minute to say, we’re here.

We’re going to keep sharing this and asking you to do the same. Send it to a friend, a neighbor, another business, or anyone you think might want to help. There’s still a lot we can do for these two LBI businesses, and we’d love to see this keep building!

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, reached out, or simply stopped to care. This is what small business and community are supposed to look like — taking care of each other when it counts.

If you can help, please do. If you can share it, please share it.
