Sunday leisurely pasture walk. It’s nice sometimes to just get out there and observe, with no specific task in mind otherwise. My first farm experience was an internship on a big CSA operation run by a nonprofit. The farm manager would have us all do a farm walk together Monday mornings just to observe and discuss. To learn and share what we were seeing. The changes over time and the effects of our efforts were absorbed. I try to continue this practice. It’s easy to get consumed by the day to day tasks, but very important to lift your head up, take a deep breath and just look around. Then, thank God.

YES!!! Gingerbread Granola! I’m still working because, I couldn’t show up tomorrow without it! It’s just not in me to not have what our customers want. And Eric and I love what we do. So we will have our gingerbread and peanut butter granola, our pasture raised poultry. Plus our winter squashes, okra, beans, flower bouquets, eggplant… etc…etc … We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. We send much love to all of you from our farm to your homes.

Early morning transplanting of broccoli, collards, kale, and chard for fall harvest. It’s hot now so they’ll get some shade cover and extra watering. Fall gardening is challenging.

A gargantuan loss in the world of agriculture today.

One of my all time favorite quotes comes from the legendary Wendell Berry:

“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is the healer and restorer and resurrector, by which disease passes into health, age into youth, death into life. Without proper care for it we can have no community, because without proper care for it we can have no life.”

Rest in Peace to an incredible writer, author, and farmer, Wendell Berry.

If you have never heard of this man, I strongly suggest you Google him and read his works. Just an incredible human being, prayers to his family and loved ones.
