This has to be a good sign for the SCA World Championships this weekend!

When you have Monday afternoon off why get some cold weather practice in before the February comps.

It’s been a minute since making some pulled pork. After pulling 27lbs I don’t think we lost our touch.

Trailer is packed and ready to roll for the Best of Midwest Bbq that is part of the Great Pumpkin Chuckin Fest at the Racine County Fairgrounds in Union Grove this Saturday.

It is bittersweet that this is not only our last contest of the year but it will also be the last contest of our bbq comp career. With 12 seasons it feels like a good time to hang it up.

I spent some time to look at some pictures of when we started. In 2008 I convinced 2 coworkers that we should enter the Big Pig Gig in Menomonee Falls (our team was called Smokin’ Butts Bbq). We finished mid pack but the highlight was 1st place in a side category which was brats. I was hooked. We did 3 more comps together before they decided to stop. I continued on and talked Michael into helping me. In 2011 we finally became the team A Boy Named Que. We had suffered through a few defeats but we also heard our names a few times, which made it all worth it.

As always, If are in the Union Grove area and want to stop by you are more than welcome. I’m sure there will be bbq to sample. As Laurie is known to say, “eat it, I don’t want to take it home!”

Decided to make some que for a team lunch today.

Tonight we are prepping to leave for one of our favorite contests...the Puckaway Pigfest BBQ Competition. It’s always a great time and run by awesome people. If you are in the Montello area on Saturday, stop by and say Hi! and checkout everything going on.

We made it home from West Salem and the Bring’n Home the Bacon comp. We had a great weekend, the comp was well run and the Neshonoc Lakeside Camp Resort was an excellent venue. Even the weather turned out to be great since the rain decided to stay away. Only if our results were better.

Chicken - 8th
Ribs - 14th
Pork - 22nd
Brisket - 27th
Overall - 21st out of 37

Congrats to BS Barbeque for GC and City Slickers BBQ for RGC!
