It’s with much deliberation and several hard conversations that we have elected to cut our already small herd down.
Growing up, raising show cattle was always a huge dream of mine. In fact my mom would always say that if she lost me she would just walk out back and I’d be standing at the fence watching the cows. This dream has always and will always hold true, and this is what makes this decision even harder. I have spent most of my adult life pouring everything I had into these cattle and the genetics we both acquired and made ourselves and I feel like we have always been moving in the right direction. However after we lost my mom, almost everything in my life got harder. The work load tripled and the bill pile got taller. Mixing this with a separate career on top of it has caused my life to be hectic and hindered me from putting all my effort into both. In an effort to help balance life out, I have elected to sell some of my prized possessions. Over the next few days I will feature each cow or heifer that will be available to purchase, if you are interested contact us. This decision hasn’t come lightly and writing this sting a little more.
We are letting go of our VERY BEST. We are not holding the good ones back, these ones need to go on and continue to make great ones, just with people that have more to take care of them calve them out.
First up is arguably our very very best. She is probably the best creature to ever step foot up on the hill here in the buttes. While she hasn’t been with us long, she has done nothing but great things. “Maddie” had a bull calf for us her first year here who went to pay his mom off and she laid down and had a smoker of a heifer calf last year. I originally had such big plans for this one and offering her to the public pains me more than anyone will ever know. She was Raised By Holmes Show Cattle and sold to Us by Todd and Weston Fair. She is on the older side but she in phenomenal shape and has a lot of life and calves left in her. She is a good mom who feeds her calves well. She is a tad weary of humans but respects fences.
All cows and heifers will sell vaccinated and ready to breed.
We may fully regret selling her, but life would be what it is without tough decisions.
We will retain the right to one flush, resulting in at least 6 viable and freezable embryos, at our expense and the buyers convenience . Never know what the future holds!
