It's happening. The yearly molt. These sickle feathers are from our big rooster Quagmire. Egg laying is slowing down as the ladies will reserve energy to grow back new feathers. The egg cooler will be out very sporadically until spring, if at all. We had a great season!! Thanks to everyone for buying eggs!! 💚💜

-Not a chicken but he does take care of the mice and squirrels around here.
Old Man Frank 😢 He came home after a 5 day walk about with a bum paw. He was treated to a warm foot bath, a can of tuna fish, and a visit from our local vet assistant. Picking up meds tomorrow and more tuna fish.🖤🤍

He's only 9 weeks old and he is huge. The rest we hatched are all doing great! They have all grown and matured way faster than any chicks we have bought at TS or mail ordered. Makes you wonder what those poor baby chicks go through in their first few days of life. These guys had food, water, heat, and cuddles the moment they dried off in the incubator. 🐣
