This week, we are excited to recognize Sara Burner, Music Teacher at Sand Ridge Elementary School, nominated by Principal Jacob Mabry as our Teacher of the Week!

Mrs. Burner goes above and beyond each day to bring the joy of music to her students. From teaching children how to play the ukulele to helping them learn to read and appreciate music, she creates a classroom where creativity, confidence, and learning flourish. Her students truly are rock stars!

This week, she went the extra mile by preparing and supporting our kindergarten students as they performed during their awards ceremony, helping make the event a special and memorable experience for students and families alike.

Just like the flowers we grow at GiGi’s Farm, Mrs. Burner helps young minds bloom through encouragement, patience, and passion. Thank you for sharing your gifts with your students and making a difference every day!

The #1 question we get at the farm is "When are you getting farm animals?"

Meet Ollie, our highly trained, low-maintenance farm owl. He never needs feeding, never escapes the fence, doesn't mind the heat, and works 24/7 keeping an eye on the property. He's also surprisingly quiet and has an excellent attendance record.

For now, this fake owl is the closest thing we have to farm animals! We're still busy planting, growing, building, and creating spaces for people to enjoy. The flowers and meadows need a little more time before we start adding four-legged (or feathered) friends to the farm. So if you're driving by wondering where the animals are, just know our owl is holding down the fort until then.

Don't worry, Ollie has been promised that when real animals arrive, he'll still get to keep his job.

We started the journey of creating our wildflower meadow this weekend. We mixed 5 pounds of American Meadows North Carolina wildflower seed mix with vermiculite to help evenly spread the seeds across our 5,000 square foot meadow space. Now comes the hard part, patiently waiting the next 7–8 weeks as nature does its work.

We even left a walking path right down the middle of the meadow that we hope will become the perfect photo spot once the flowers are in full bloom. We can already picture the butterflies, the colors, and the memories that will be made here. Stay tuned for updates as our little meadow grows!
