🌸 This beautiful purple flower has been part of North America’s story for centuries.

Meet Echinacea purpurea, also known as the purple coneflower.

Native to North America, echinacea has a long history in traditional herbal practices among several Indigenous nations, including the Lakota, Cheyenne, Kiowa, Pawnee, Comanche, and Omaha. Historical records describe different parts of the plant being prepared and valued in many different ways.

Beyond its cultural history, echinacea also plays an important role in nature, providing nectar for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Here on our farm, we grow echinacea with the same appreciation for its beauty, history, and place in the landscape.

This week, we’re exploring the remarkable story of one of America’s most iconic native herbs.

Turn out the lights for the birds at night!💡

August through October is officially declared as "Lights Out Nights in South Carolina Season" and urges South Carolina residents to turn out non-essential lights at night during these critical migration periods in the fall for the protection of birds in South Carolina.

Some days, farming isn’t about rushing.

It’s about slowing down long enough to notice the little things.

The morning light on the herbs.
The sound of bees moving from flower to flower.
The breeze through the garden.
The quiet work of growing plants with patience and purpose.

Every herb we harvest has a story, and every cup of tea begins right here on our farm in South Carolina.
