Yesterday, Emma and I had the opportunity to attend a soap-making class hosted by This & That Boutique in Wi******er, NH, in partnership with the Wi******er NH Agricultural Committee .

We had such a great time learning the art and science behind handcrafted soap, and we’re excited to bring this new skill back to Hemlock Hollow Homestead!

One of our goals has always been to create more products right here on the homestead, and learning to make our own soap is an exciting step in that journey. We can’t wait to start crafting soaps at home and eventually offer them alongside our farm products at local farmers markets. These products are gonna be rich and local ingredients, including milk and tallow from our own Normande cows!

A huge thank you to the organizers and instructors for sharing their knowledge and making the class so enjoyable. Stay tuned as we’ll be experimenting, learning, and hopefully sharing some beautiful handmade soaps with all of you soon!

A Homestead wouldn’t be complete without a livestock guardian dog!

Welcome Bodie, he is a Anatolian/Šarplaninac mix coming from a New Hampshire farm with working livestock guardian dogs.

He is coming to us at five months old, going through some training, following his parents and grandparents born in late November just a couple days after Logan‘s birthday!

We are very excited to welcome home to our home and grow together as our farm grows as well!
