Check out the picture below! Westwind Farm's Stone Mill is now solar powered!! Check out Power Home Solar - they installed it, no money down, and once it's operating, the very reasonable payment is offset by lowered electricity bills! One more step towards a smaller carbon imprint!! Also, underneath the solar panels is our solar pit greenhouse, about a month away from seedlings for Springtime greens.😀😀😍

Check out the flyer below! Westwind Farm is so happy to be participating for the first time in the Artful Hands Show coming up on May 4 and 5. It is at the home of Kimberley and John Emmert, (address on the flyer) and features some very talented local artisans. We will be there with baking mixes and flour, telling people about the milling process and how we carry on a tradition that allows us all to know where our food comes from, something that is getting harder to know these days. Join us and find great gifts for Mother's Day or just for Spring fun!

MILL TOURS ARE BACK! Find out how flour is made on our stone mills. See and learn about the different parts of a grain, the nutritional value of each, and of different types of grains. Great for kids, families, or anyone interested in real foods. Contrasting muffins - whole grain and flour only, are served at the end with beverages. One hour tour, $5 each, minimum 10 paying customers, kids under 5 are free. All tours BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays all summer. This neglected page seems to take a back seat to the Westwind Farm page... Sure most of the events and the CSA are centered there, but the Flour Mill is another quite viable aspect of Westwind Farm!
We are up and running with a full line of flours and baking mixes available for bakers everywhere! All of our flour is ground from certified organic, Michigan grown grain, including hard red spring wheat, soft white winter wheat, spelt, buckwheat, rye and corn. Wheat flours and spelt come in three grades, and the spelt flour is 100% spelt (you wouldn't think that had to be clarified, but many commercial brands are not...) Buckwheat and rye come in 2 grades, medium and dark, and corn comes in a medium corn meal as well as corn flour. We've also got 14 easy and delicious baking mixes to choose from, as well. Let us know what you need in advance, and stop by during on-farm pick up hours, which are Fridays from 4-7 pm and Saturdays from 10-3 pm, or by appointment. Happy Baking!
