Just a boy wishing his girl was out doing barn chores with him. He refused to go out with Matthew but sat at the window and whined the whole time and still wouldn’t go when offered again.

I just realized all the time we spent trying to predict when Kariss would calve…

A quick look at Facebook Memories or our birthing records would’ve shown she had Bonnie last year on June 3, 2025.

This year? Bull calf on June 3, 2026.

Turns out Kariss had the schedule all along, we were just overthinking it.

After what felt like approximately 17 years of watching this Big Momma, checking cameras, analyzing goo, evaluating ligaments, and making wildly inaccurate predictions…

She finally had a bull calf!

Naturally, he arrived while she was acting completely normal and minding her own business, proving once again that cows calve on their schedule, not ours. 🤣

Stopped by a friend’s farm today that had our bull Don Julio from Quimby Family Show Stock with their herd last summer, and it was really great seeing the calves on the ground. So far they’ve had 7 heifer calves and 4 bull calves-and every calf has been born unassisted.
Nothing better than seeing healthy babies, easy calving, and happy cows doing their job.
