Meet Dottie — named after the smart, capable little mechanic from Disney’s Planes. She officially joins our 2026 cast of Planes characters here at Wandering Willow Farm alongside RIPSLINGER and El Chupacabra.

Apparently we don’t just raise cattle anymore… we collect characters.

Not….Banjo, Dash, Rocket… or any other cute internet suggested baby dinosaur name….
Somehow, “Norman” just fits.

We had hoped and prayed that Betty wouldn’t reject him- female emus do not raise the young in the wild- the males sit on the eggs and raise the chicks. All has gone well and she seems to adore him. It was important to us that she have a companion of her own kind.
We lost Sal one morning, he baffled us all and broke our hearts when we found that he had peacefully died curled up in his sleep. đź’” We are grateful for every goofy and curious moment we had with him.

If something was going to go wrong- it would definitely happen while Momma Chaine is left in charge. We were attacked by coyotes just after dinner- it was mayhem for moment. We lost some birds 🥺.
This Momma has been sitting on eggs and refused to abandon ship even as a coyote was in the chicken coop. She just made herself as flat as possible and stayed silent in the chaos- she is still sitting on those eggs this morning. It was SO loud, everyone was ready to rumble- the pigs were unglued, Ollie’s auction lamb got in a good kick at the one that was going after his baby chickens that prefer his house, you do NOT make a emu mad…
