Co-presenting an upcoming workshop on native plants and their pollinators (Sat Mar 2, 3:30-5:30, 404 s 20th St, Philly)! (a true botanical sage) will lead the plants portion, while Alexis of Squirrel Dance will introduce the wild bees that sustain the meadow. A bee blast from the season past! Mexican sunflower + yellow bumble bee. We’re proud to be home to at least two bumblebee species - these gals and the common eastern bumble bee. Look at the abdomen (back part) to tell the difference. The common ladies have only one yellow segment; the rest are black. These yellow dames have an almost entirely yellow abdomen, with just a touch of black at the end.
