Hello my lovely friends. It’s a balmy kind of October day and I am writing to you near my west-facing window after putting my boys to bed.
We have felt the shift of season almost abruptly. The hot humid days finally have given way to the fresh cool winds and morning mist. The leaves are turning red, golden rods in bloom, and I can finally pull out my sweaters and cardigans and begin layering clothing. I will never get tired of saying that it is my favorite time of the year.
And I’ve had some really cozy homemaking days even in the mids of sick days and very much wild and demanding boys.
I have been achingly homesick around this time of the year… homesick for my younger days in Ukraine, my teachers, my friends, and people that helped to shape me into who I am today. I am reminiscing about my music school and my music teacher and just wishing for time not to fly so fast…
In this video, I open my door to you ones again. The door to my little home and my garden, but also to my heart, my thoughts, and my longings.
But while this lovely season lives and beats, I want to share some autumn recipes and sewing projects with you - delicious sourdough pumpkin scones, Mrs Fox sewing tutorial and pattern, and green borscht that I made with sorrel leaves, parsley, and dill from my garden.
Also, I am sharing with you my handmade soft notebook that I made and called Placemaker. A notebook to write a story about our little family, our home, and our garden. A notebook deeply inspired by Wendell Berry’s poem The Wild Geese and Christie Purifoy’s book Placemaker. I made this notebook to help me see the ways I have been helped and to center my attention on nature and its gifts. To have eyes clear and heart quiet to grow joy in everyday ordinary moments of this life.
I really hope this video gives you encouragement and rest and hope and maybe a little bit of light.
Thank you for watching and supporting my small YouTube channel (link in bio). 🥰🫶🏻
