Mark your calendar! The Full Moon Art Fest is coming to Downtown Scottsboro on September 19!

Join the Art Society of Jackson County for a free, family-friendly day on the Square featuring more art vendors this year, local authors, food trucks, live music, and a kids’ fun zone.

The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., so come spend the day supporting local artists, discovering new makers and authors, listening to live music, and enjoying everything the Full Moon Art Fest has to offer.

Hi there! Lately, I’m somehow making sure to include molasses in most of the conversations I’m having… So I wanted to make a quick video and nerd out about it with everyone that watches at once! So here’s a little video of me spraying our plants and talking about why we are spraying unsulphured molasses on our pumpkins this year. 🍂🎃

I first heard about brix levels and using molasses to raise your plant’s brix from another flower farmer I follow on social media (Micro Flower Farm.) Earlier in the Spring I listened to an episode of The No-Till Flowers Podcast and Dr. Tom Dykstra went into more details about how molasses can be used to improve the health of soil microbes- which then leads to a healthier plant.

To put it quite simply- the higher the brix level, the less bug damage your plant will receive. If you keep up with a spray schedule (eyeballing myself here) and do regular garden walks you’ll be able to gauge where your brix levels are by what insects you find on your plants… you can also use a brix refractometer to check levels. I strongly suggest that folks research this topic and feel free to yap with me about it anytime.

We are excited to offer a mixed bouquet subscription for four weeks (the last two weeks of August and first two weeks of September.)

Weekly bouquet deliveries will be dropped off at Moon Lake Library in Mentone, AL. These bouquets will be made using seasonal flowers grown on our farm, chemical free. Sign ups are now open, link in comments.🌱🌻
