The “Just do it” skill

It definitely grows when I have to do things like this!

First time collecting a bee swarm. Got up on a ladder, shook them into a bin and then gently put them into an empty hive.

Here’s hoping they stay! Follow along for updates 🐝

The first plants are in the ground!

While statice isn’t the most flashy flower, it is very functional. And sometimes doesn’t function win?!

Statice fills out bouquets, has a long vase life, and dries beautifully.

I grow more of it each year as we expand our fresh and dried offerings! But I only grow 3 colors that match the palette for my fresh and dried mixes.

Cheers to the very beginning of season 5… and to function 😊

What’s something functional you love? Garden related or not!

The last 8 weeks of winter in CNY have been a slog 😬

In case it has had you down, here’s your reminder that the earth is waking up now and signaling new beginnings 🌻

Dried flowers are bringing some color on this snowy day!

Did you know farmers are always planning a few seasons ahead?

The dried flowers for next fall/winter are already being planned out and seeds have been ordered.

The same is true for bulbs and tubers, some are ordered almost a year in advance of when they’ll actually be flowering.

We plan based on what is popular and what we hear might be growing in demand.

What are your predictions for the coming season?

I couldn’t think of a better setting!

Yesterday, I got to join other flower and greenhouse growers for a full day of learning and discussion about pests, diseases, growing wholesale, and needs and trends in the florist world.

Thanks to and for putting together such a great event an inviting me to discuss the collaborative model we have at to bring local growers together and offer locally grown product to the greater Syracuse metro area!

If you believe that all ships rise with the tide, and that collaboration wins over competition then you are in the right place. Also, flower people are just the nicest 😌

Flower power Friday!

Had a great meeting today with fellow growers in the group today.

One of my biggest lessons as a business owner, and specifically as a flower farmer has been that I don’t have to go it alone!

Collaboration wins over competition-whether that be seeking or sharing advice, supporting one another by buying flowers (because you can’t grow it all), and cooperatively planning what is offered each season.

We all have things to share and learn and seeing these photos reminds me that the winter nights will shorten, spring will come, and with that flowers!

Stay tuned for 2026 season info!
