Our world-class DJ was a little star-struck, and snuck a pic and autograph with one of our wedding guests this weekend, with Denver Broncos Super Bowl Champion Coach, Mike Shanahan.

I imagine the conversation went a little like: "Coach! I am a big fan *inaudible* (of the Green Bay Packers, cough)" JUST KIDDING!

The Sparks family kicked off our opening weekend with picking 43 lbs of blueberries! They even braved the Saturday rain and then topped it off with more today. Thank you for continuing your tradition with us!

Anniversaries look a little different each year the journey progresses. Our fifth was pre-kid (barely) on the beaches of the Florida Keys. Our tenth was when Blue Barn was still 'dream in progress' and I spent most of my professional time on stage - a gig in Sao Paulo led to an anniversary in Rio de Janierio. It's easy to romanticize those as the "good old days."

But the latest anniversaries have been just as magical - perhaps even more so. Kids and family responsibilities have muted some travel. The growth of Blue Barn required a conscious shared decision to spend some recent anniversaries working; building, growing - but always TOGETHER, and always still DREAMING....

The cool thing about being married to a fellow possibility-thinker and dreamer (who also doubles as "best friend") is that the path to happiness tends to wind and diverge, never ending up exactly where you planned. But somehow, you are always staggered by the blessing of where you have landed...

I'm not quite sure where the next divergence will lead us, but I know I am blessed to have you and my two other favorite girls in the world, along for the journey.

Happy Anniversary, Shanda - I love you more every year. Every anniversary it seems literally impossible to be able to reach that same milestone of "more" the next, yet somehow, it is always blessedly true.

Now, let's enjoy a RARE DAY OFF!!! (Whooooohooooo! No emails or calls today! We ain't answering!!! Lol!!) Mom - enjoy the kids. Put them to work on the farm in our absence! Lol!!

You-pick opens at 9am today (Saturday). It's calling for a little rain 10am-12pm. The patch does stay open if you're brave enough to get wet.

We have Apples, blueberries, strawberries, sweet onions, Radishes, turnips, cherry tomatoes, cutting tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, golden potatoes, sweet potatoes, lettuce and bakery items. We have a few 5 # and 10 # blueberry boxes available today as well.

My favorite part - hands down - of Blue Barn and Farmhouse Events & Catering is the relationships we get to build with some of the most wonderful people in both our community and many from many miles away.

We've been blessed to host close to 300 weddings and special events over the last few years. We tend to think of our wedding couples and their families as part of of OUR Blue Barn family. We hope that vibe translates.

I made a new pal at a recent wedding, and we got to chatting about family, sports, life, etc. I found out he lived in Kansas City and that I would actually be NEARLY following him home on his drive after his daughter's wedding for a Reds game (though I suppose he'd consider it a "Royals" game - poor fella...)

We got to striking up a friendship, and he said "I'm gonna go to the game and see ya on Tuesday" I figured - nice sentiment, but ya know, not super likely.

I love what we get to do for a living and appreciate the blessing that every day, every event, we get to be a tiny tiny part of someone's special memory. It's a true privilege to get to ride shotgun for so much magic and happiness. We take our mission to be a small part of amplifying it seriously... I hope we succeed more often than not.

Great seeing you!! Your daughter's wedding was lovely, and the wonderful people we got to spend the weekend with even more so. (And of course, GO REDS!!!!! ;)

The kids wanted to earn some $ for the Milford School Walk-a-thon. Normal parents would give them a few chores to earn a few bucks. I'd rather inspire a few young entrepreneurs, so I issued a creative marketing challenge. No coaching. No assistance. No input from me. They each got the challenge of creating a 60 second spot - "create an ad" - for any aspect of Blue Barn. I told them I'd pay them 5 cents per "like", 10 cents per "love" and $1 for each share. Harvested the honey from the Blue Barn Berry Farm & Event Venue bees today. They made a good crop and look really good for winter. This location is setup as a stationary yard where the bees stay there all year round. Next summer we will select 1 or 2 of the hives for potential breeding stock for 2024.
