Mishawaka today! We have lettuce today and I think we are the only ones to have lettuce.
Lettuce today at Syracuse
At the Mishawaka Farmers Market today. Things are growing kind of slow this year. But little by little it's starting to produce.
At Syracuse Farmers Market today till 1:00 PM. Hope to see you all soon.
Hi everyone just a quick note to let everyone know we won't be at the Syracuse Farmers Market on Saturday or the Mishawaka Farmers Market on Sunday. We really don't have any product that is ready for market. It's looking somewhat better for next weekend we'll keep you all posted
Our first market of the season at Mishawaka Farmers Market. Lots of construction, but we'll worth the effort
We're back !
We are definitely in the dog days of summer. With all of this heat our lettuce offering is somewhat limited. So if you are wanting lettuce tomorrow at the Mishawaka Farmers Market better come early. We have broccoli, radish, kohlrabi, and cabbage microgeens for tomorrow. Hope to see you all Sunday 😁
Today we are set up at the Mishawaka Farmers Market.
Come visit us at the Fort Wayne's Farmers Market today
Okay, Everybody; it's Showtime!
This Saturday, we start at Fort Wayne's Farmers Market outside at McCullouch Park from 9 am to 1 pm, and on Sunday, we head on over to the Mishawaka Farmers Market on the Mill from 11 am to 3 pm. We are always excited to start the summer markets and to test out new crops. This year's big experiment is hydroponic strawberries in towers. The berries we are growing are day neutral, so they should produce fruit for most of the season. We started 250 plants for this test; if this pans out, we'll expand it for next year. We have quite a bit of lettuce and microgreens for this weekend. We are still waiting for the first tomato to ripen. There are a lot of green ones. Here are pictures of the lettuces that are making the trip this weekend and the strawberries are blossoming and growing in the towers.
Hope to see you Saturday/Sunday,
Jay and Henrietta
Finally, I am taking the time to do a Facebook post. My wonderful daughter, Sarah, who really gets this social media stuff, says, "Dad, you haven't done a post since September!" I just have to say, I've had Facebook Burnout.
Anyway, we made it through the freeze this week without too much damage. We have tomatoes forming on the vines and all the lettuce hydroponics are now filled - all 400+ holes! We are experimenting with strawberries in our grow towers this year (another hydroponic system). Plus, we'll have beans to plant and other field crops, too.
We are at Goshen Farmers Market tomorrow, April 24, from 8 am - 1 pm. This will be our last Saturday here. We have been at Goshen for eight years and have met a lot of really wonderful people along the way! We are cutting back and concentrating on one Saturday market, that being Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market (9 am - 1 pm) at the park in Downtown Ft. Wayne during the summer/early fall. We also plan to be at Mishawaka Farmers Market on Sundays (11 am - 3 pm) from May 16 - September 26. That should keep us busy until Thanksgiving. Then it's vacation time and, hopefully, we can travel again.
Looking forward to another season,
Jay and Henrietta
Now for the sad news this Saturday will be our last day at the Goshen Farmers Market. Henrietta and I have been spreading ourselves to thin. We will be starting at Fort Wayne's Farmers market on Saturday the 15th and Mishawaka's Farmers Market on Sunday the 16th. We are kicking around the idea of setting up a wagon for an honor market with a refrigerator for lettuce and microgreens on the farm. We have been checking out many designs and have it narrowed down to just a few.
It's Saturday at the Goshen Farmer Market. Come and visit till 1 pm.
It's Saturday at the Goshen Farmer Market. Please stop by and visit till 1:00pm.
Hi to all!
It has been a while since Henrietta and I have done a post and, now that we are starting to wind the year up, it is time to get back at it.
First, I would like to thank all of our new friends and customers at Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market who have helped to make a challenging year very bearable. We look forward to next spring and hope to see you all again. That said, we are still at the Goshen Farmers Market until Christmas with lettuces, microgreens and whatever else we can rustle up. So, come by Saturday and see what surprises we can pull out of our hat!
Goshen Farmers Market hours are 8 am until 1 pm every Saturday except the last Saturday of the year and the first Saturday of the new year. For the holiday season, there will be two Tuesday Events, November 24 and December 22, from 3 pm until 7 pm. Also, there will be two special artisan Sunday Events (holiday gifts!), November 15 and December 13, from 3 pm until 7 pm.
We hope to see you on Saturdays and/or the Tuesday events, and thanks for a great year!
Jay and Henrietta

Been a few weeks sense we posted last and now its September. My how the time flies when you are having fun. We have a few live basil plants for this weekend. We also will have pie pumpkins and Casper white pumpkins for this weekend.. This means, Yes FALL is just around the corner. Ah the smell of pumpkin pie spice through the house while Henrietta bakes her world famous pies(Famous at least in my world🤪). Our lettuce numbers are down some this week. We will have some lettuce at all three markets. Green beans are more then abundant this week. Green beans are delicious pan fried in gee Yummy! For the mean time microgreens will still be at Goshen and Mishawaka . See you all Saturday and Sunday and September is going to be great.
Jay and Henrietta
At Mishawaka Farmers Market till 3:00pm.
Ready For the Weekend WOO HOO! Really, we look forward to the markets every week. We enjoy our interaction with our customers.
With that said, I must say things are going good for the farm and us. I really thought that this year was going to be pretty bad with all the restrictions and with the loss of a couple of our markets, but things are still going good. Henrietta and I want to thank our many patrons for their support so far this summer.
Suggested pricing is still in effect. Please pay what you can. We want everyone to be able to eat.
We will have quite a bit of lettuce at the markets this weekend with one exception - Buttercrunch bib is in short supply. It doesn't like the heat of the last few weeks.
Other items at our table include microgreens, tomatoes-red and yellow/full size and cherry, peppers-green, colored, and purple/mild and poblano, ancho, jalapeno, and habanero/hot, swiss chard, mini bouquets, and glad stems. Goshen will have lettuces and microgreens only. Mishawaka will have the same as Ft. Wayne plus microgreens.
We are at Goshen Farmers Market: Saturdays all year* (except the last Saturday of the year and the first Saturday of the new year when the Market closes for winter break. *Also, we are on vacation the month of January and part of February) from 8 am until 1 pm; Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market: May through September on Saturdays from 9 am until 1 pm; also, Mishawaka Farmers Market: Sundays May through September from 11 am until 3 pm.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
Jay and Henrietta
Today at the Mishawaka Farmers Market!
Good Friday to all and the start of the weekend!
Lettuce is coming along pretty good this weekend and tomatoes are starting to make a somewhat late appearance. We were able to enjoy a hand full of green beans at supper tonight, so they will be at the markets in the near future.
Now, for the BIG NEWS. We are changing how we price our produce. We are going to do the PAY WHAT YOU CAN pricing model. We will have suggested prices of our own and also the prices at local stores. Please remember: These are only suggested prices. If you are running short of cash, you can pay what you can afford. Also, if you have been blessed, you can pay the suggested prices or a little more to help offset the folks who might be struggling at this time. Nobody is required to pay more OR the suggested price. Farming is our supplemental income, so please be fair.
Another note to add: We are trying different ways of packaging our lettuces. Some of them grow so big they won't fit in the clam shell! So, we are keeping them chilled and bagging them when you buy them. If you want us to remove the root, we will do that for you, too.
Goshen Farmers Market Microgreens List: broccoli, red cabbage, kale, leeks, red arrow radish, and sango radish.
Along with the microgreens, Henrietta will have two varieties of live lettuce: Summercrisp - Muir and ButterCrunch - Rex.
. Wayne's Farmers Market: Jay and Sarah will be there with a few microgreens, live lettuces (Muir, Rex, Purple Oakleaf, and one Romaine), bagged lettuce leaves, cucumbers, zucchinis, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green, colored, and purple peppers (mild), jalapeno, ancho, and poblano peppers (some heat), dill sprigs, and mini flower bouquets.
Farmers Market: Same as Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market plus iced bottled water and a few microgreens we might not have sold on Saturday plus LEEKS and RED ARROW RADISH for sure.
ANNOUNCEMENT: Jay's daughter, Sarah Wright, has self-published her first book! There will be copies for sale at each market table at a most reasonable price of $13.90, tax included. If you are into books and would like to support a local author, please check out "Heritage Lost."
We appreciate all our friends and customers very much! Thanks!
See you Saturday or Sunday,
Jay and Henrietta
Our new location at the Ft Wayne's Farmers Market in the diamond lot. Also we have Sarah's book for sale at both locations. Stop by Fort Wayne and meet the author. She will be attending the Goshen Farmers Market at future date

The farmer out inspecting his field of leeks @ Mishawaka Farmers Market . Microgreens leeks one of the healthy choices today.
This week, a quick report. Lettuce is still going strong. We will have bagged salad mix and 40 heads of lettuce plus mini cukes and zucchini at Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market Saturday from 9 am until 1pm. Be sure to check out the $5 bouquets of flowers Henrietta made, too. Just the right size to surprise someone special!

Jay and Henrietta
Mishawaka Farmers Market today.
At Mishawaka Farmers Market today come on over and visit.
Hi to everyone!
We are patiently waiting for more produce to take to the markets. There are lots of blossoms, beginning signs, and great weather, so it won't be too much longer. So far, so good.
Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market: We have our live lettuces and not too much for microgreens this time. One new item you haven't seen: Nasturtium Shoots! If you like PEPPER, you will like these!
Hours: 9 am - 1 pm.

Mishawaka Farmers Market: Live lettuces and microgreens. One new item for the HOT WEATHER SEASON: Cold Bottled Water to quench your thirst, while the supply lasts.
Hours: 11 am - 3 pm.
Another nice weekend to get out and visit the farmers markets.
See you soon,
Jay and Henrietta
At the Mishawaka Farmers Market today. We have lettuce and microgreens. Also have sunflower and pea shoots. It's all very good 👍
All is looking good in the tunnel. We actually have some tomatoes and peppers forming right now. My one great experiment is a hydroponic cantaloupe. I think it'll do well, too. We haven't had a lot of pest problems yet this year and, what problems have reared their ugly heads, we have been able to control with natural products - which is always our first choice.
We will have a lot of lettuce at the markets this weekend. We will be at Goshen Farmers Market: 7:30 am - 1 pm and Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market: 9 am - 1 pm on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, we will be at the Mishawaka Farmers Market: 11 am - 3 pm.
Market Menu: three varieties of live lettuces, several microgreen varieties, pea and sunflower shoots, and bagged mixed lettuce leaves (Ft. Wayne only).
The weather is warm and sunny this weekend. Did you hear about the little boy who put yeast and shoe polish under his pillow at night? He wanted to "Rise and Shine" in the morning!
We'll see you at the market,
Jay and Henrietta
Lazy T Lazy T Ranch Farm and Nursery is at Mishawaka Farmers Market at Central Park on the river. Hope to meet many new friends today.
Lazy T Ranch Farm and Nursery is set-up at Syracuse Artisans & Farmers Market today thanks to the Syracuse Parks and Recreation for letting us set up at short notice
The . Wayne'a Farmers Market
is closed today because of civil unrest in Fort Wayne. I have 60 heads of lettuce that now have no place to go. Farming is nothing if not Interesting. Any suggestions?
The season continues to progress with good momentum. We were able to get all our melons, squashes, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes planted this week. The pole beans have finally poked their little heads up to see the sun. We also have the first spikes of ginger making an appearance. I can't wait until Henrietta makes some fresh Keto ginger snaps later this year (hint, hint!) Yum!
So far, not many pest problems which makes growing a lot of fun, and everything is mostly on schedule.
Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market Microgreens List: bok choi, broccoli, red cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, red arrow radish, and sunflower shoots.
Also, three varieties of live lettuces to choose from: Butter Crunch-Rex, Summer Crisp-Muir, and Oakleaf-Panisse.
With the smaller heads of lettuces and extra microgreens this week, we made bagged lettuce leaves at $3/bag.
Goshen Farmers Market Microgreens List: bok choi, broccoli, red cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, and red arrow radish.
Live lettuces are the same as Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market. Sorry, no bagged lettuce leaves this week.
Good weather predicted for Saturday. The vendors are required to wear masks (at both markets) until further notice. For customers, it's still optional. We're looking forward to the end of this as much as you are.
So, what are you having for dinner besides Lazy T Ranch Instant Salad?
See you at the Market,
Jay and Henrietta
Good Friday, Everyone!
This week has been another super busy week. We finished adding the 240 heads of grow capacity. I think, if the need arises, I might have room for another 240. Our tunnel is 16 ft by 100 ft. When I put it up last year, I didn't believe I would ever have it completely filled to overflowing. Henrietta is very happy about this because it sure is fun when everyone likes your produce!
Last week was our first market day at Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market. My daughter, Sarah, and I would like to thank everyone who made us feel welcome and made our first performance at the market a success. It's much appreciated!
Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market Microgreens List: bok choi, broccoli, red cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, red arrow radish. Also, several people asked about pea shoots and sunnys. We have both this Saturday - 1 ounce bag for $4. The regular clamshells for the microgreens are $2 for 1/2 ounce.
We will be bringing four different varieties of live lettuces in clamshells, two varieties in the extra-large size, and bags of mixed lettuce leaves (a few heads were, according to H, too small) with microgreens added (just because we had some leftover).
Goshen Farmers Market Microgreens List: bok choi, broccoli, red cabbage, kale, kohlrabi, pea shoots, red arrow radish, sango radish, and sunnys.
Also, at Goshen we will have three varieties of live lettuces.
This weekend we celebrate Memorial Day. Drive safely when you are out and about.
See you soon,
Jay and Henrietta (H)

This Saturday, we are opening the summer season as one of the new vendors at located at the Tin Caps ball diamond. (This is a temporary site until the church is allowed to open.) My daughter, Sarah, and I will be at Fort Wayne every Saturday for the summer season. Henrietta will continue at the Goshen Farmers Market.
Just a reminder, we will not be doing the Syracuse Farmers Market this year. We thank the loyal customers who have supported us through the years. H and I will continue to think of some way to serve this community.

Ft. Wayne's Farmers Market Lettuces List: Oakleaf-Bughatti, Oakleaf-Panisse, Buttercrunch-Rex, and Summer Crisp-Muir.

We look forward to every Saturday and hope you will come out to Ft. Wayne or Goshen to get the freshest produce from local farmers. It looks like the artisans will also be returning soon, too.
See you soon,
Jay and Henrietta
More freezing weather, BRRRRR!
It looks like once we get past Monday night we will be out of the woods as far as freezing temps go. Of course, I have now said that three other times this spring. All I can do is cover the sensitive plants, run the LP space heaters, and pray for no damage at this point.
Lettuces are looking good this week. We are adding another 240-head capacity to our lettuce growing efforts this coming week. Salad season is here!
We will have limited microgreens this Saturday.
Plenty of live lettuces to choose from: Oakleaf-Panisse, Oakleaf-Burghatti, Summer Crisp-Muir, and Buttercrunch-REX.
Eat your veggies and be a "salad" citizen!
See you Saturday,
Jay and Henrietta

Had a visitor to the farm this week. A wild turkey running in the back garden area. I think she got separated from her best buds. Now that the heat is upon us, the bugs are, too. I really dislike tomato hornworms. They really are quite well camoflaged. Hopefully, we will have a lot of tomatoes in spite of them. The rest of our crops have finally started producing, slowly but surely. Goshen Farmers Market Microgreens List: bok choy, broccoli, red cabbage, blue Scotch kale, kohlrabi, leeks, mizuna mustard, red arrow radish, and sango radish. Syracuse Farmers Market Microgreens List: same as Goshen except no broccoli, red cabbage, or kale. In addition to microgreens, H has live lettuces, zucchini and yellow squash, small heads of cabbage (just right for one or two people), and baby beets. Jay also has live lettuces, endive, awesome cherry tomatoes, yellow tomatoes, eggplants, gourmet greens golden purslane, beets, cabbages, zucchini and yellow squash. Visit H at Goshen Farmers Market from 8-1 pm. I'll be at Syracuse Farmers Market from 9-1 pm. Have a great Saturday! Jay and Henrietta
I'm ready for the snow! Bring it on! Yesterday, I put the snowblower attachment on the Wheelhorse tractor. Now, I'm ready and waiting for it. (Watch the video.) I'll be at Goshen Farmers Market tomorrow filling in for H again. She had her second cataract surgery Thursday and is healing up quicker than the first time. She'll be back next Saturday. Goshen Farmers Market Microgreens List: bok choy, cilantro, blue Scotch kale, red Russian kale, kohlrabi, leeks, mesclun salad mix, parsley, and sango radish. We have some baby pumpkins, butternut and hubbard squash left as well as garlic. Also, we made hot pepper vinegar sauce in quart and half pint sizes that have infused for three weeks now. If you like it hot, these are ready. If you like it hotter, wait a couple weeks before opening. Hope the weather isn't too awful tomorrow. See you at the market, 8 am to 1 pm. Jay and Henrietta
Finally, the ground got dry enough to till and the tiller was put back together, yeah! The new six-foot tiller saved me several days of work. I also used a jab transplanter that drops the plant without getting down on my hands and knees. Watch the two-minute video to see how easy the new tiller works. Goshen Farmers Market Microgreens List: arugula, bok choy, broccoli, red cabbage, red Russian kale, kohlrabi, leeks, mixed mustards, parsley, pea shoots, red arrow radish, sango radish, and turnip. Syracuse Farmers Market Microgreens List: same as Goshen plus lettuces, live and bagged. More planting yet to do. If anyone needs me, I'm in the garden 😁! Jay and Henrietta
Thought I would give a quick video tour of the Syracuse Farmers Market . Sorry about the video quality.
April 7, 2017 We've been busy getting ready to plant outside and working on projects. The tomatoes are doing quite well. We have blossoms that need to be pollinated. Watch me in the video having fun pollinating! We are at Goshen Farmers Market Saturday with plenty of microgreens: arugula, basil, bok choy, broccoli, red cabbage, dill, red Russian kale, mixed mustards, pea shoots, Sango radish, sunflower shoots (sunnys). See you at the market, Jay and Henrietta
