Hoppiness Brewing Company

Hoppiness Brewing Company started as a hobby of the founder Andrew Gemmell. Since his first brew in his Syracuse apartment Andrew enjoyed the whole process; the smell of the grain and hops for the hours it took to make a single five-gallon batch of beer. All that work was worth it for the beer that just never lasted long enough between family and friends. The more batches he made the more that he

wanted to experiment with new flavors so he started to experiment with new recipes. He started with a Chocolate Porter that had a bitter chocolate flavor. That didn’t satisfy his palette, so he refined his recipe by changing grains and adding cocoa nibs and vanilla bean to get a richer chocolate flavor. He also took that recipe and added ginger root to it to get a bite to his Chocolate Porter. Experimenting with beer recipes and the knowledge that the possibilities are limitless is how Hoppiness Brewing Company was born in 2012. Using the right ingredients for each style beer was the easy part; it was the little touches that give it new flavors and the passion for great beer that were the true inspiration for Hoppiness Brewing. As time went on Hoppiness Brewing Company made the decision that they wanted to not only make great beer in the heart of New York State but they wanted to also support the local economy by buying local ingredients to make it truly a beer of Central New York. Hoppiness Brewing Company’s goal is to provide great beers and create a greater sense of community with the businesses and customers of Central New York and beyond. Our mission quite simply is to brew great beer and build great community.
