🌱 Why Mineral Absorption Matters?
In ruminant nutrition, supplying trace minerals is just the beginning. The real impact comes from how well those minerals are absorbed and retained.
Many factors inside the rumen can reduce the availability of inorganic minerals including interactions with antagonists such as sulfur, molybdenum, iron, and phytates. These interactions can limit the amount of mineral that actually reaches the small intestine for absorption.
That’s why organic trace minerals (OTMs) play a critical role. This helps protect minerals until they reach the point of absorption, improving overall mineral availability.
And when mineral absorption improves, so does the animal’s biological response, supporting:
🛡 Immune function
🔄 Reproductive performance
🐾 Hoof integrity
⚙️ Metabolic efficiency
✨ Because at the end of the day, mineral nutrition is not about how much you feed. It’s about how much the animal can actually use.
