Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that reminds us that freedom is worth celebrating, protecting, and continuing to work toward.
Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a reminder that freedom and justice don’t always reach everyone at the same time, and that history is worth remembering so we can keep moving forward together.
At Cafe Dahlia, I’ve always believed that food has a beautiful way of bringing people together. Around a table, over coffee, or while sharing a co**ha, we get to celebrate each other’s stories, cultures, and traditions. That’s the kind of community I hope to keep building here, a place where everyone feels welcome.
Wishing you all a meaningful Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚
