We're trying to fix that — but we need your help.

We're doing a photo shoot on June 9th (10am–12pm) and we need real people to eat real food while a camera is nearby. That's genuinely it. You're not a model. You're just eating.

We'd like you to meet Clayton. Clayton has been a Gather regular since day one — we're talking back when we were sending texts warning people we'd sold out of juice.

His order is a 75% OG Greens, 25% Sweet Greens with a Chipotle Avocado Toast and pickled red onions. (He knows what he's doing.)

When we closed in December he reached out and asked how to bring Gather back. That conversation became a real partnership. He's part of the ownership team now — you probably won't see him behind the counter, but this place exists again partly because of him.

When we asked him what this reopening means to him, here's what he said: "Gather is coming back because of community. We believe everything is better shared — not just the best açaí bowls and Chipotle Avocado Toast, but the other stuff in life too. This comeback is not just a reopening. It's Tacoma doing what we do best. Facing the grit together."

Outside of Gather, Clayton's favorite job is being a half-time dad of two. His daughter has been asking when she's getting her juice back.

Something kind of incredible happened after we closed.

You probably heard — we shut down in December. Puyallup expansion drained us. Longer and more expensive than we ever planned, and eventually we just ran out of road. Closing was one of the hardest things we've ever done.

What we didn't expect: one of our regulars, Clayton, reached out and asked how to bring Gather back. That conversation became a real partnership. Now we're reopening this March on 6th Ave.

Same location. Same food. Same team (we're working on it). No hard date yet but it's real and it's happening.

We’ve seen some questions this morning about gift cards—specifically why we were promoting them just before closing. We want to be transparent about what happened.

We promoted gift cards on November 26th because we were still working to keep Gather open. We knew things were tough, but we believed we’d find a way through. By December 6th, it was clear we couldn’t. We would never knowingly sell something we couldn’t honor.

We’re refunding all gift card purchases made since that promotion. If you bought one during that window, you don’t need to reach out—we’re already working through the list.

We’re just now seeing many of these comments after stepping away from social media this weekend. Hopefully that’s understandable—this was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make, and we needed a little time. We’re grateful for everyone who’s given us six years of trust, and we hope that track record speaks to who we are.
