Pleasant Crest Farm

Pleasant Crest Farm We are a small family farm located north of Tahlequah Oklahoma. Our goal is to produce food that is worth eating. We will not ship our food.

We are a farm that believes in producing food as naturally and organically as possible. We do not believe in confining animals to the same location the way many Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) are raising food today. This leads to sickness and disease that requires medication of the animals. We believe that
animals need to be outside and free to move around. Our sheep are grazed rotatio

nally so that the grass has time to heal and to prevent topsoil loss through
overgrazing. Our laying chickens are free ranged so that the eggs have high flavor and nutritional content. Our broiler chickens are raised March through June
and are moved daily to provide them with fresh greens and bugs to eat and to minimize the buildup of animal waste in any given location. We believe in buying
local, and so our food will be sold directly from the farm. We believe in transparency of production, and we encourage people to
come and visit the farm if they want to see how their food is being raised. Please call to make an appointment as the farm is our home and we are not always there.

A big thank you to the wonderful family at Hidden Heights farm for adopting all of our goats yesterday! Our two pet goats One-Sock and Tawny are headed to a good home and we are very greatful for that.

So, after 6 wonderful years, we are hanging up our farming hat and moving closer to town. We have 24 Katahdin sheep of various ages including a 3 year old proven ram who was a triplet. We have 7 Kiko Goats, including a 3 year old Buck, a llama and a donkey. We are looking for homes for our flock, preferably with someone that wants to breed and raise them. Two of our nanny goats were bottle fed and are very friendly toward people. Please contact us if you would be interested. We will give a super deal if you take them all. You must be able to pick them up.

Well, the cold weather has kicked our girls into birthing mode. We've had 20 babies born since the 9th of January. We still have a few mommas that are holding out, but we're already about 90% done for the year. So far a very good bunch of babies. About an even mix of singles and twins, with mostly females for a change. All of our baby goats have been female. We will be looking for homes for some of our new girls after they wean, so if anyone is interested please contact us.

We are planning on taking 5 lambs to be processed on August 7th and should have the meat back sometime before the end of August. We have already pre-sold 2 1/2 of them. The cost is $95 for processing and then $2/lb live weight (usually around 100-120lb), so if you order a whole lamb you are looking at around $300. The processed weight that you will get back is usually around 37-43lb. If you would like to stock your freezer with some grass fed lamb contact us soon before we run out.

Days like today are when I love being a farmer!

We have had 17 babies born so far this year! Only 2 more mommas that still need to have their babies.

I love the idea of using nature to work smarter not harder.
