The year was 1962, on the Eastside of Jacksonville, Florida, a rich marriage of spices and authentic southern flavor was brewing. "Bob" Cooper discovered a smooth blend of sweetness and tartness that was subtle enough to not overpower the palate and yet bold enough to create a craving for more. Founded in the galley of a Merchant Marine Tanker that sailed the U.S. seas, this recipe was "stumbled"
upon ironically as the result of other cooks attempting to protect their recipes from this young baker! While being assigned to perform "busy work" by his superiors, Bob created a recipe that has since delighted serious BBQ connoisseurs for decades. From the Eastside of Jacksonville, to Arlington, Downtown, and the Westside, Bob's BBQ served countless customers a hearty fare of Ribs, Chicken, Beef, & Pork dishes all masterfully prepared over a fire of hickory & oak woods. Having served the Jacksonville area for 30+ years, he retired from the business - but left the recipe and cooking techniques to the care of those that he groomed with the values that defined him, namely - treating the customer right, serving a quality product with generous portions, and trusting that quality service will be reciprocated by customer satisfaction and loyalty. As a bonus for the daring - try spreading our sauces over fresh cut & deep fried Curly Q or baked potatoes, fish, steak, pizza, or even nachos! With a generous portion of this sauce, the discriminating palate is bound to awaken and the heartiest of appetites will surely be satisfied. Bob passed away in December 2007, after having passed down a Legacy of quality BBQ products that remain to date. Thanks for your patronage at Renaissance Bar B Q, we trust that you will enjoy this Rebirth of a Great Taste Tradition!
