*** Bacon & Blade Show 2017 ***

I've received a few messages about pork and Blade Show. If you want a whole or half hog custom processed I can have it ready for those coming through the Montgomery / Central Alabama area on Monday June 5 for your pick up or anytime that week. This will get you 8-12 pounds of sugar cured, smoked bacon on a half depending size. Lots of beautiful chops, steaks, ham, and roasts or butt depending on how much sausage or brats you would like. Our processor can do so just about any type of sausage you dream up and does really nice traditional sugar cured hams as well.

We truly have some of the nicest Large Black X Red Waddle and other heritage breed pigs we have ever grown at this time. The color, marbling, texture , and taste of these will be better than what got my first pig to the plate of a restaurant.

We are offering a Blade Show special that will fill your empty beer coolers on the return home for $5 per lb. Yes, $5 for everything from your bacon to your chops when you purchase a half or whole hog. Besides that we want to do a little something for a place that does a lot for a local community in need. If 4 or more pigs are sold we will have one of the purchasers make their payment as a tax deductible donation to River City UMC for all that they do. I haven't spoken with them but I'm assuming it will be tax deductible. Either way it will be used by them to help actual homeless people. As in those who legitimately live on the streets and in tents. We will just do a drawing and refund the deposit to you for payment to them.

To reserve your half or whole for processing we must receive a PayPal deposit for $175 per half or $250 per whole before this Monday the 22 at 0600 CST. Again this is is custom processed so you must pick it up.

I would ask that friends and industry people alike share this if you have had something that our farm has grown.

If anyone is interested in whole pigs for roasting for next week or weekend let me know. I already have to drop off and can add to it. This will be scalded and scraped as well as USDA inspected of course. We normally recommend 1-1.5 lbs per guest you are feeding.

If a means to cooking one is holding you back we do have a hog roaster available for rent always.

Attention holiday shoppers in Montgomery! I have quite a few deliveries today so I am going to set up at very good location today and have lots of pasture / woods raised pork as well as grass fed beef. From 11-2pm today we will be at Wrights Produce at the State Farmers Market on Federal Drive next to Garrett Coliseum. This is just minutes from downtown and all the military complexes so it should be convenient for most. Lots of chops, sausages, cured ham slices, smoked and fresh hocks, ribeyes, sirloins, filets, ground beef, cube steak, NY strips, brisket. Everything is frozen and with the temp being what it is today it will be fine for a few hours before you make it home.

That's today 11-2pm at Wrights Produce at the State Farmers Market on Federal Drive.

Pick up some real pretty ham steaks to enjoy for dinner or maybe on Christmas morning!

Babies in 3 of the 4 paddocks right now. So much for that old Hereford X GOS sow being dry and leaving her around a York boar.

If you are looking to fill your freezer with the best pork and want the knowledge of everything that went in to raising that animal including its diet and how it was treated, now is the time to make that happen. Fill the freezer now so you have more time to BBQ this year.

Custom processing for whole and half hogs is a scheduled for March 24. Currently offering a Spring Special with no delivery fees.

Here is the full info for whole and half hog for custom processing. These are our pasture raised Berkshire x Duroc and Large Black x Red Waddle. If you need someone to take a half, let me know as I keep a list normally for those just wanting half and will match you up.

Depending on the amount of packaged meat you want to get back determines the size of pig you should get or rather half or whole. Of extreme importance and pertaining to the swine gold is Bacon, most pigs of the type we raise at under 225 lbs can have very little if any viable Bacon. I normally take pigs to processing at 250-265 lbs. Rate of return on a 265 lb pig is normally 170-180 lbs of packaged good. Normal harvest is about 65-70 %. This includes hocks, liver, neck bones, and fat for lard rendering if you want it.

I use Reed's in Clanton for custom processing. They charge the individual buyer of the pig, you a $25 processing fee and $0.48 per lb on the cut weight. This includes curing of hams and bacon as well as slicing and vacuum packaging. Ground pork / sausage is packaged in 1 lb tubes. You can have shoulders cut into steaks or made into sausage, your ham left whole, halved, fresh , cured, or sliced, hocks cured or fresh, etc. You get to pick your cuts by filling out a spec sheet from Reed's which I will deliver with your pig.

The pigs I sell for custom processing this way are no different from any other pig I raise. All are on the same diet and treated the same way in the exact same environment. Custom processed by Reed's is what my family eats 99.99% of the time. It's the exact same quality meat as our USDA processed products but it's offered at an immense savings to the consumer.

Current pricing is as follows:
Pig live weight X $3. 50 per lb paid to Oinkin' Acres.

Paid to Reed's by the consumer is the $25 processing fee.
$0.48 per pound for finished product.

On a 265 lb pig which returns nearly 180 lbs of finished, vacuum sealed meat including around 20 lbs of Bacon the price comes out to $5.77 per lb for naturally grown and pasture raised pork. You get the chops, Bacon, cured and sliced ham, steaks, sausage, ribs, etc for that one blanket price of $5.77 that is a huge discount in comparison to our USDA processed retail pricing.

From delivery date to pickup by you it takes 2 weeks.

I can take payment via credit card as well. I require a $75 deposit that is applied to your total weight cost.

We are currently searching for chain link fencing in the 4'-6' heights in any lengths. In total we need roughly 2 miles worth. Poles and fasteners are not needed but if it's part of the deal we will work it out. Paying above scrap prices and if you have good quantity and the price is right I will travel within 1,000 miles of central Alabama.

No hauling to the scrap yard and getting pennies for it. I will come to you and get it and pay above scrap pricing.

If you know where any old baseball fields were taken down by schools or large lots have had fencing removed, here is a chance for it to to stop just sitting somewhere.

You can contact me at [email protected] or message me via here.

Please share this and keep an eye out at your local scrap yards. Thank you for your help.

Red Waddle X Large Black. Love the rugged characteristics of this cross. Rich and flavorful meat, pretty good growth rate, incredibly docile, and all around great temperament.
