Vote YES on Amendment 2! 🚜🍓

Florida agriculture depends on the equipment and tools our farmers and ranchers use every day.

Amendment 2, which will appear on Florida’s November 2026 ballot, would exempt certain agricultural and agritourism equipment -tractors, irrigation systems, harvesting equipment and farm machinery - from annual tangible personal property taxes.

Florida farmers and ranchers are facing rising costs at every turn. This amendment would reduce those operating costs by an estimated $31 million annually statewide, helping keep family farms economically viable, preserve working lands and support the people who produce the food, fiber and products we rely on.

As November approaches, we encourage our members and community to learn more about Amendment 2, what it would mean for Florida agriculture, and vote YES!

At Lykes Bros. Inc., caring for the land also means caring for the remarkable wildlife that calls it home. Through deliberate, active management, we protect biodiversity, support native and migratory species, and maintain the natural balances that allow both wildlife and ecosystems to flourish for generations.

Our working lands provide a vital habitat for a wide range of native game species and migratory wildlife. Our team of wildlife biologists regularly conducts wildlife surveys to track population trends of native game species, such as deer and turkeys, as well as invasive species like coyotes and hogs. These surveys provide critical insight into animal health and habitat conditions, helping guide responsible land management decisions.

Our conservation efforts also help protect some of Florida’s most iconic species, including the gopher tortoise and Florida panther. Through partnerships with the State of Florida and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, establishing conservation easements, supporting education by allowing research access, and the ongoing work of our wildlife and conservation teams, we help protect and connect these critical habitats while supporting the long-term health of these species.

Did you know Lykes Bros. Inc. owns and operates a 272,000-acre ranch in the Chihuahuan Desert? 🏜️

Meet the O2 Ranch. This Texas ranch spans approximately 272,000 acres across Brewster and Presidio counties. Lykes acquired the O2 Ranch in 1941 and today the focus is on restoring native grasslands while maintaining sustainable operations.

Through close collaboration with Sul Ross State University, the Borderlands Research Institute, and the Rio Grande Joint Venture / Alianza Regional de Conservacion del Rio Bravo, we continue to guide restoration and wildlife management efforts across the ranch. We also invest in water infrastructure to improve pasture and animal health within persistent drought conditions and carefully manage grazing and hunting to help preserve the ecological integrity of the Chihuahuan Desert.

Thank you to everyone who visited us at the 40th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School!

Our team enjoyed connecting with professionals from across the environmental and conservation community.

We were especially proud to have Grace Campbell, AWB®, Wildlife Biologist, and Cari Roth, J.D., Vice President of Governmental & Regulatory Affairs, representing Lykes Bros. Inc. through their participation in this year's conference.
