It was an exciting day at Lykes Ranch as local 4-H and FFA members participated in Show Calf Selection Day.

As part of our commitment to supporting youth agriculture programs, we provide students with the opportunity to purchase a calf at cost for their project. This year, five students selected their calves, and we wish them the best as they begin a year-long journey of learning, responsibility, and growth.

Lykes Bros. Inc. is proud to support the next generation of agricultural leaders and we look forward to following their progress in the months ahead.

We are excited to announce John Bertram's promotion from VP of Finance to VP of Finance and Strategic Planning.

John joined Lykes Bros. Inc. in 1998 and has spent more than 25 years serving the company in a variety of leadership roles within Accounting and Finance. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to financial innovation and cultivated a deep understanding of the company's diverse operations.

In his previous role, John helped to advance the organization through his financial leadership and utilized his comprehensive understanding of the business to drive strategic planning initiatives. His extensive knowledge of Lykes's multiple divisions, combined with his financial expertise and leadership experience, makes him a great fit for this expanded role.

John holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and an MBA from the University of South Florida. He is also a graduate of Leadership Tampa and the Wedgworth Leadership Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources and holds a professional certification in Real Estate Finance & Development from MIT.

We are pleased to announce that Nick Swain has been promoted to Ranch Manager.

Nick has been with Lykes Bros. Inc. for approximately eight years, most recently serving as Equipment Division Manager, where he led range management and land improvement efforts across the ranch.

Nick holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Biology from the Florida Institute of Technology and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Construction Engineering. Raised in South Florida, Nick developed a strong foundation in cattle operations through hands-on ranch work at an early age. He is also actively involved in industry leadership through the Florida Cattlemen’s Association and is a graduate of the Florida Cattlemen’s Leadership Association.

We are pleased to announce that Hal Duncan’s role as Vice President has been expanded to include leadership of the cattle, forestry, and citrus divisions at Lykes Bros. Inc., effective May 8th.

Hal has been with Lykes for over 25 years and has built extensive knowledge across all aspects of the company’s agricultural operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Operations and Management from the University of Florida and is a Certified Crop Advisor through the American Society of Agronomy.

In addition to his work at Lykes, Hal serves as a Board Member of the Highlands County Citrus Growers Association and the Highlands County Farm Bureau, reflecting his deep commitment to Florida agriculture.

His operational expertise, agricultural background, and proven leadership make him exceptionally qualified to lead Lykes Bros. agricultural operations.

We are excited to welcome Karen T. Racine, CPA to Lykes Bros. Inc. as Corporate Controller.

Karen brings more than 12 years of accounting leadership experience across public accounting and private equity-backed organizations, with expertise in GAAP compliance, internal controls, financial reporting, and ERP implementation. Throughout her career, she has led high-performing teams, significantly improved operational efficiency, and overseen financial reporting across multiple entities.

Karen holds a B.S. in Accounting from St. Michael’s College and an MBA with CPA Focus from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Lykes Bros. Inc. is honored to be recognized as the MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife Division of Law Enforcement South Region Alpha Landowner of the Year.

This award recognizes landowners who demonstrate outstanding partnership and collaboration with law enforcement agencies in support of conservation, resource protection, and public safety.

We are grateful for our longstanding relationship with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the many partnering agencies that work alongside us to help protect Florida’s natural resources. Lykes Bros. Inc. is pleased to welcome Chase Wild as our newest Wildlife Intern, effective May 11th.

Chase is a graduating senior at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he is earning his BA in Environmental Studies. During his time in university, he has studied General Ecology, Restoration Ecology, Ornithology, and Reptile and Amphibian Evolution.

In addition to his academic background, Chase brings hands-on experience in prescribed fire operations and habitat management.

We look forward to having Chase join the team and contribute to our ongoing wildlife and land stewardship efforts.
