My parents always told me the older you get the faster that time goes…one minute you’re taking care of three baby goats then it’s 4 months later. With holidays, travel, full time jobs, and a masters program; social media often takes a back burner.
But here is a little update…back in November our sweet Chester took a month long trip to a neighboring farm to spread his love and gentleness. During that time we found our sweet and shy Nicholas Black, “Nikko” for short. He fit right in pretty quickly, but we knew he was missing a mate of his own. Just a month ago and after a lot of searching we found and fell in love with Natasha Hazel, “Nat” for short. It was love at first sight between her and Nikko and the two have been connected ever since.
Our chickens have all finished their molting and our Dory duck is almost through with hers. We are currently getting over 2 dozen a week now and with Bekka looking to add more in April, we will officially be egg dealers very soon 🤣.
Finally, after searching and trying many different feeds for our Rocky horse, with mixed results. I finally decided to reach out to an old horse contact back home in Kentucky. After talking it over and trying her recommendation for just a month with great results we knew this was the right choice and we decided to go big (plus a friend wanted to join in the purchase) and bring an entire pallet to the farm. We couldn’t be happier and neither can our friend who was struggling with their hard keeper, who is gaining and maintaining weight now.
While I know that is a lot, as we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary today, we reflected a lot of about our year and the farm. We are so happy with the progress we’ve made and all the joy it brings us both.
