Big "M" Berry Patch Seasonal - Fresh picked vegetables and Strawberries grown on our family farm near Taylorville.

Approximately 20 acres of vegetables and strawberries grown on our centennial family farm located 3 miles southwest of Taylorville. Season begins mid April with the daily harvest of asparagus and continues till Halloween. Pick your own strawberry season begins around June first and last about three weeks. All produce is available weekly at the Taylorville Farmers Market each Saturday morning from

THANK YOU for those that attended the Christian Count Board meeting last night and your support with FB comments and concerns. It was a very informative meeting. The county board assured those that attended that this process is just beginning and there will be numerous meetings in the future before any decisions are made.

YOUR PRESENCE WOULD BE APPRECIATED! - The Christian County Board will meet this evening at 6 pm at the Taylorville High School cafeteria. An agenda item will again be the Taylorville Data Center that is proposed to be located north of Clarksdale. The location would be in close proximity to Big M Berry Patch. This proposed location could literally kill Big M Berry Patch and Big M Pumpkin Patch operations. There has been a recent push to "fast track" the county approval process by the developer. I humbly request that if you are available this evening that you attend this and future board meetings that address this data center and show your opposition. If the Christian County Board gets a clear message that the county residents oppose this data center, they should stop discussions on this project until the utility industry and federal government solves this nationwide problem. At this week's Taylorville Farmers Market - Saturday June 13, 2026 - 9 am til 12:00 pm at the Taylorville Manners Park Chatauqua Building. This week's fresh picked Big M grown produce will feature our GREENBEANS, SUGAR SNAP PEAS, BEETS, NEW POTATOES, ZUCCHINI, CABBAGE, RADISH, CUCUMBERS, BROCOLI, BELL PEPPERS, and LEAF LETTUCE. We will also have our fresh picked GREEN ASPARAGUS, PURPLE ASPARAGUS (this will be the final week for asparagus), RHUBARB, GREEN ONIONS, and POPCORN from the 2025 season. Please note, it may be too muddy to dig potatoes on Friday. See attached photos with prices taken at last week's Farmers Market. This week's produce will be the same as last week.

This week's fresh picked Big M grown produce will feature our BEETS, NEW POTATOES, ZUCCHINI, CABBAGE, RADISH, CUCUMBERS, BROCOLI, BELL PEPPERS, and LEAF LETTUCE. We will also have our fresh picked GREEN ASPARAGUS, PURPLE ASPARAGUS, RHUBARB, GREEN ONIONS, and POPCORN from the 2025 season. STRAWBERRY PLANTING - Planted/replanted 20,000 strawberry plants this week. See attached video taken by Meredith Repscher showing parts of the process. We replant a portion of the patch each year. Now to keep them fed and watered so we they will produce next year.

At this week's Taylorville Farmers Market - Saturday May 30, 2026 - 9 am til 12:00 pm at the Taylorville Manners Park Chatauqua Building. This week's fresh picked Big M grown produce will feature our first of the season ZUCCHINI, CUCUMBERS, BROCOLI, and LEAF LETTUCE. We will also have our fresh picked GREEN ASPARAGUS, PURPLE ASPARAGUS, RHUBARB, GREEN ONIONS, FROZEN BLACKBERRIES from the 2025 season, and POPCORN from the 2025 season. STRAWBERRY UPDATE - FOR MONDAY MAY 25, 2026 - BIG M BERRY PATCH IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE 2026 SEASON - We just checked the patch and have determined it is time to close the strawberry patch for the season. There are not enough strawberries to remain open any longer this year.
Thank you for patronizing Big M Berry Patch. We are already preparing for next year. We have 20,000 strawberry plants arriving this week and will be planting them as soon as the weather permits.

STRAWBERRY UPDATE - BIG M BERRY PATCH WILL BE CLOSED ON SUNDAY MAY 24, 2026 - We had a large volume of strawberry pickers on Saturday. We gleaned most of the patch but there are a couple of areas we may try to pick again in a couple of days. If we can see that we have enough berries to pick, we will post an update on this page. Follow and check this FB page for daily updates. See attached photos of some of our customers on Saturday 5/23/2026. The berries are smaller and not very plentiful but most customers were able to pick some quality berries.

BIG "M" BERRY PATCH will not be at the Taylorville Farmers Market on Saturday because we will be open at our Strawberry Patch on our farm. We will have our Big M grown produce that we would have had at the Farmers Market for sale at the patch. Those items include: ASPARAGUS, RHUBARB, GREEN ONIONS, POPCORN, 2025 FROZEN BLACKBERRIES, and FREE 2025 GARLIC (with the purchase of other produce). See attached photos.
STRAWBERRY UPDATE - FOR SATURDAY MAY 23, 2026 - OUR STRAWBERRY SEASON IS ALMOST OVER - ONLY A FEW (maybe only a couple) DAYS LEFT THIS SEASON - The strawberry patch will be OPEN ON SATURDAY MAY 23, 2026 for "PICK YOUR OWN" STRAWBERRIES starting at 8:00 am. NOTE- WE WILL BE CLOSING AT 4 PM ON SATURDAY. We have stopped flagging and assigning rows to pick on so you can pick anywhere in the patch. As long as customers continue to come and are able to pick quality berries, we will remain open on a day-to-day basis. Follow and check this FB page for daily updates.
