Few things make us prouder than seeing hometown talent make a name for themselves, and Tommy Cox has been doing just that for decades.
Originally from Tazewell, Virginia, Tommy’s blues journey began in the early 1990s, touring throughout the Southeast with his band Tommy C & The Blue Hounds. Since then, he has released multiple albums, shared stages with renowned artists including George Thorogood, Bob Margolin, Johnny Hiland, and The Nighthawks, and built a reputation as one of the region’s most respected blues guitarists. His powerful guitar work and authentic blend of Delta, Piedmont, and electric blues styles have earned praise from blues critics and fans alike.
Now based in East Tennessee, Tommy continues to bring his unique brand of blues to audiences across the region with the Tommy Cox Blues Band, proving that great music knows no boundaries—but we’ll always claim him as one of our own from Tazewell.
