The one we have been looking forward too and dreading at the same time has finally come to pass. The heart and soul of our little enterprise has completed her very last Oklahoma Youth Expo!! OYE 2026 marks the 10th and final one. As we compose this post we have a mixed bag of emotions. Accomplished, Greatful, Humility, Pride, Exhaustion, and yes, much Sadness. A few of the highlights from the last week and a half. 1st in class with Sweetie (heifer), 5th in class with Tina (heifer), and 2nd in class with Mr. Miyagi, the 1500 + lb lap dog. (crossbred steer) We were blessed beyond measure for the big guy to be the 26th overall crossbred steer and make it into the Sale of Champions. A huge thank you to Randy and Suzanne Gilbert and Banc First!!!
"Little Red" as she was dubbed early on by many in the barn, has had one fantastic career at OYE including Breed Champion Shorthorn Heifer and Reserve Champion bred and owned heifer in 2019, many class winners, a few division and reserve division champions and some Reserve Champion bred and owned heifers (3 I believe) Those are the most special in our opinion because they were raised right here on our place by "Little Red" herself. She has had the priveledge to participate in the Legislative and Celebrity showmanship contest every year as well.
We would not trade a single moment, dollar, or mile for anything in the world! We would do it again tomorrow. We were not only raising catlte but a productive well rounded young lady. There are many people to thank including but not limited too. Matt Fuss, Clayton Weatherly, Donny Driskill, Rodney Rod, Dodge Nichols, Ray Pell, The Blankinship family, The Soules family, The Cash family, Danny Sterling, and countless others. We are forever greatful for all of you pouring into Kimberly. I know this has been a long post and I thank you for sticking with us to the end. A few pics from the last couple of weeks follow.
