It started here. 🐑

Raw wool, straight from the sheep — then skirted, washed, picked, carded, spun, and finally knit into a hat.

There’s something pretty wonderful about knowing exactly how many hands touched a piece before it was finished… especially when most of those hands were mine!

A little full-circle moment. 🤍

Strawberry Blue Farm began years ago at The Tecumseh Farmers Market. I was such a mix of excitement and worry that first day. I was so excited to start this new thing that I absolutely LOVED. And I was so worried that it might fail. Taking that first step into this business was a leap of pure faith.

The leap worked. 🥰 Oh my goodness I love what I do!

And on Saturday, September 12, I’m going back to the Tecumseh market.

This time I’ll be bringing lots of hand-dyed and handspun yarn—and a little bit of the story behind it. I’ll have wool in different stages, from raw fleece to carded fiber to finished yarn, so you can see how wool makes its way from the sheep to the skein.

It feels pretty special to return to the market where this business first began, being able to share all the things Strawberry Blue Farm has grown into.

Come see me at Market on Evans September 12. And yes… you are absolutely encouraged to touch the yarn. 🤍

This is why I knit with my own yarn.

I loved Monet’s Wild Canvas in the skein, but I wasn’t sure the skein really showed what this colorway could do.

Then I made a hat.

Suddenly the name made even more sense—the soft gray ground, dark wandering strokes, little flashes of rose and green. The colors don’t simply stripe. They move through the fabric almost like Impressionist art on a canvas.

Monet’s Wild Canvas — proof that sometimes you have to knit the yarn to really meet it. 🎨🧶
