Lonnie, Alvin, and Mike Chor always had a lot of fun showing against one another at the hunts. Those were some special times in Bluetick history! 💙🐾

Fall Roundup. Let’s go! 👏🏼

I was just sitting here thinking about the Fall Roundup and how much that hunt has meant to me over the years.

I’ve been going to the Fall Roundup since I was a little kid with my dad. I can still remember seeing all those old-timers I looked up to, people like Elbert Vaughn, Dave Dean, Marvil Hill, Warren Hassler, Kelly Bragg, TC Jones, Joe Crane, Charles Wells, Juluis Sebastian, and so many others. Back then, I was just a kid watching and learning, and I sure never dreamed of all the memories I’d make there myself.

The Fall Roundup was the big hunt we looked forward to every year. My dad and I loved it. There was just something special about getting ready for it, making the trip, seeing everybody, and getting to turn a dog loose against some of the best.

I got to thinking about all the hunts I’ve been fortunate enough to win at the Fall Roundup over the years, and when I started counting them up, I even surprised myself.

Hawk won Grand Nite Champion three times, twice at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and once at Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Radar won first place at Hope, Arkansas.

Hornet won first place Nite Champion at Bentonville, Arkansas.

Cash won first place at West Plains, Missouri, and King of the Hunt.

Tango won first place at West Plains, Missouri.

Cheater won 3rd place at Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Beans Ranger won first place Nite Champion down in Arkansas, too.

And won the bench show too many times to count with just Cheater and Jessie alone.

When you stop and count up all those years, all those dogs, all those hunts, and all those miles, I guess it’s no wonder I think so much of the Fall Roundup.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to make it the last few years, but I sure am looking forward to going back this year.

I guess when I think about the Fall Roundup, I don’t just think about the hunts I won. I think about being that little kid going with my dad, looking up to those old-time houndsmen, and waiting all year for that big hunt to come around.
