🚨 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE COWS OF PHELPS CATTLE CO. 🚨

After weeks of what feels like 160° Oklahoma heat, the herd has officially gone on strike. 🐮✊

Their demands are simple:

🌡️ Temperatures below 90°
OR
🌧️ A minimum of 2 inches of rain dumped directly on the pasture.

Until those demands are met, they will be:

* Blocking roads.
* Occupying every shady spot.
* Holding sit-ins in the middle of the pasture.
* Refusing to move unless snacks are involved.

Negotiations have completely broken down. Fresh water, hay, and sweet talk have failed. The cows have informed management that “it’s too hot” and they are standing… well… lying down… by their decision.

At this rate, we may be here awhile.

Oklahoma… get your crap together. We ordered summer, not the surface of the sun. 😅☀️

When it gets so hot, the cows start doing weird things… 🥵☀️🐮

Apparently, today’s survival strategy is using your best friend as a pillow. 😂

I guess when it feels like the Oklahoma heat has been stuck on “broil” for a month, personal space goes right out the window. If there’s a cool breeze, a shady spot, or a comfy buddy nearby, they’re taking full advantage of it.

Not going to lie… it’s one of the cutest things we’ve seen all summer. ❤️

Stay cool out there, everyone—and don’t be surprised if you catch your own best friend using you as a pillow.

Phelps Cattle Co. Surveillance Report 🕵️🐮🌞

Conducted an extensive surveillance operation on the herd today in a blazing 147° (or at least it felt like it).

After several minutes of careful observation, I’ve concluded:

* The cows are standing or laying in the shade.
* They’re chewing their cud.
* They’re smarter than I am.

Based on this groundbreaking research, I decided to continue the surveillance mission…from the shade right beside them. Strictly for scientific accuracy, of course.

Sometimes the hardest part of ranching is pretending you’re working while a cow gives you a look that says, “Took you long enough.Did you happen to bring us a Moo-jito or a Mootini?” 🤠🌳🐂

The girls got the call they’ve been waiting for… 🌱🐮

Fresh pasture day! Nothing beats opening the gate and watching the herd race to a new field of green. If you’ve never seen cows get excited over fresh grass, you’re missing out on one of the best sights on the farm.

Happy cows make us happy. Now they’ll spend the next few days proving that the grass really is greener on the other side. 🌿💚

I used to think the Highlands were basically our next-door neighbors—like we’d open the curtains and there they’d be, waving hello with a dramatic misty flourish. Turns out, they’re a bit more like that friend who lives “just around the corner,” which actually means a decent drive and at least one snack stop.
Don’t get me wrong, they’re not 1000 miles away or anything. But sometimes I step outside, look around, and think, “Wow, the Highlands are really committing to this ‘playing hard to get’ thing.” I half expect them to pop up behind the shed like, “Surprise! We were here all along!” but no, just the usual view and maybe a confused pigeon.
It’s a little disappointing, honestly. I was ready for daily dramatic landscapes, spontaneous bagpipe solos, and sheep casually judging my life choices from the garden. Instead, I get… normal scenery. Rude.
Still, when we do make the trip, it feels like visiting a celebrity—worth the effort, slightly surreal, and I definitely take too many photos. Until then, I’ll just keep checking out the window, just in case the Highlands decide to drop by unannounced.

Every herd has that one kid… 😂

This little calf apparently woke up today and decided it was the perfect time to test the patience of the older cows. She marched right in like she owned the place, full of confidence and absolutely zero life experience.

The elder cows let her know—quickly and professionally—that there is, in fact, a pecking order around here.

Let’s just say her “I’m the boss now” phase lasted about as long as free cake at a church potluck. 🤣🐮

Lesson of the day: Respect your elders… especially when they weigh 1,300 pounds and have no interest in your nonsense.
